Electronic windows The problem is that the window on the passenger side is stuck in the open position. Nothing has been done to the window apart from opening it. If I use the switch to wind the window up it goes about a third of the way up, but then nothing. The drivers side is working perfectly. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Not a fuse,Most likely a grounding issue with the switch or maybe switch needs replaced. This is a common problem with power windows and 9 times out of 10 it is in the one on the drivers side even though its the passenger window giving the problem...driver side controls all power supply....may be loose connection. Check that first...hope this helps and if so Please leave a rating on this post..
This procedure may help. At least, you will know if the motor is good or not. Set a spare battery by the door and use jumper wires to connect to the motor. Pull the motor connector off, and connect the jumper wires-doesn't matter which side of connector- Does motor sound or operate? If nothing, then reverse the jumper leads, and see if motor operates in the opposite direction? If window motor is good. leave windowt up, and look for broken wires to the switch in both door openings, where breaks usually occur. If motor has nothing with jumper wires tried both ways, then you know the motor is out. There should be a way to manually get the window up, but I don't know. To remove regulator I believe in most cases, the glass is removed first, then access regulator fasteners to remove regulator and motor. Good luck.
Volcompunker is on track.... if it is a stuck motor problem, before taking door apart, try this...it may work, works well on dodge caravans...
NO COST and fast PROCEDURE TO FIX IT:
1. Sit in vehicle, on seat next to problematic window 2. Ignition key is on 3. Door in question is opened (in case you closed it) 4. While door is open, press and hold power window button in desired window travel, keep button pressed !! 5. SLAM hard the door closed with one hand while other hand holds button as per #4. 6. Watch window operate as it should.
7. Repeat 3-6 if necessary, but usually the first try works!
Hi.
The Front windows are on a seperate fuse from the rear and this MAY be your
problem. the fuse for the front windows is fuse No 33 - 30amp. (that’s the
fourth fuse from the left / centre row, the fuses are numbered) The Rear window
fuse is No 42 just for information. If
the battery has been discharged you MUST!!!
Reset the Power Windows and Traction control. It's very simple and the
instructions are in your driver’s manual. But just in case you don’t have it,
here they are: Resetting the side Power Windows If the voltage supply is interrupted
(battery disconnected or flat), the side windows must be reset to prevent
injury to driver or passengers:
Turn the key to position 2 in the
ignition lock.
Press on the switches to the (Up or
Closed position) pressure point until the windows are fully up, and hold
for approximately 1 second.
Resetting the ESP (Electronic Stability
Program or “Traction Control Systems”) If the voltage supply is interrupted
(battery disconnected or flat), the indicator lamp will light up while the
engine is running.
Turn the steering wheel from stop to
stop while the engine is running. The indicator lamp will go out & the
ESP system is reset.
If you need a copy of all the fuse values and locations etc. Post a
reply here at FixYa with your email address and I will forward you a schematic
diagram……..[did one for myself that’s easier to understand / follow than the
Merc one] Hope this helps!!!!
I removed all 3 switches from driver and passenger door, which is really easy with a flat head screw driver. took them completely apart, very carefully, with a small screwdriver out of a christmas cracker. put them back together again and 2 switches started working, so I put 1 in the drivers side and 1 in the passengers side so now my drivers door window opens and I lean over to open the passenger door. cool, no money spent...yet ;o)
