How do you change the freeze plugs on 1989 gmc 305

Nobody has a diagram. The smallest ones usually go in the cylinder head

Backfire on acceleration could be caused by a worn lobe on the camshaft especially on a small block Chevy engine. You have to remove the valve covers and check the lift of each push rod. Sometimes it's quite obvious but sometimes it requires close inspection and even measuring the lift.

If you didn't replace the Throttle Position Sensor, check the adjustment on that. Also, pull the Idle Air Bleed Valve and clean it.

It would be the same size tire that you now have on the truck.
