My Chrysler Sebring sat over the weekend and was fine before I parked it. Now it won't shift out of park.
There is a spring on the left side of the shifter which has probably broken off it a common problem with a no cost fix as long you can find the spring. the spring attachs to the black case of the shifter and the other end goes to a pink plastic pivot to the interlock. drill a small hole in the pink upper pivot to reattach the spring. your spring would have shot off toward the back of the car inside the console check at the carpet's edge.the spring has a green protective band and is about an inch long ---to get the console out 4-- 10mm bolts at rear inside the back console compartment and 2--10mm bolts behind the a/c controls. the a/c control bezel and the upper bezel do not have screws but push in place--top bezel pulls straight out while the lower has to be pulled down and out to remove
When mine had this problem a part in the shifter had broken. It had to be towed to the mechanic (dealer) and have the shifter replaced.
My 2008 sebring will not shift out of park just started yesterday before this everything was fine no problem , what can i do to solve this problem
The same thing happened to me and I had to get it towed to the dealer. They fixed the problem. The shift was messed up. It cost me 90 buck to fix. Do not know much about cars but that's what they charged me.

You either have problem with the shifter assy, or the shifter cable has come out of adjustment.
If you remove the shifter bezel and center console you will be able to see the shifter cable. There will be a white or black lift tab on the cable. Release the tab and and place shifter in park. If it still does not go into park that means that you will need a shifter assy. If it goes into park with the tab released you push the tab back down with it still in park.
That should take care of your problem.

I had the same problem with my 05. I couldn't shift out of park. So, I checked brake pedal sensor, and wire linkage and they were fine. I took the center console apart and pulled out the shifter assembly and sure enough the problem was at the assembly. There is a plastic piece. that hooks to a small spring that snapped. I ened up renforcing it with a small clamp hose, and ever since its been functioning fine. I imagine I saved my over $500 bucks of repair cost and also wouldn't be surprize for others to have the same problem.

See if this helps. Someone on LXforums had the same problem with their
300. This solution worked for me as I had the same problem as you with
my Chrylser Sebring 2007.
