I have an orig 60K mile 1988 chrysler conquest tsi automatic that for some reason shifts extremely hard (its either the shifting or the turbo is kicking in to early) im not sure. and there is oil in the transmission fluid. is there anyway i can fix this problem without tearing her down? it is near immaculate condition just those issues and it idles a little weird can someone help me out with this? i just bought the car and i have NO prior experience with turbo cars

The shifter needs to be inspected. The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities. But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this occurred then its shifter assembly alignment issue.

Have you changed fluid & filter lately? Especially a truck, it should be done every 60k. Hard shifting is first signs filter is loading up.

It winds up in 1st and then shifts right from 1st into 3rd. Then never shifts into 4th. Plus rev is gone. You broke the sun shell. The transmission will need to rebuilt or replaced.

Suggest lots of possibilities...I assume it is NOT a TSi... so no Turbo.
If all vacuum lines are attached and in good shape, then you can have a back pressure issue, preventing the flow of burnt gas out of the engine, and therefore a low vacuum.
If you find that the Cat. converter is clogged (strong possibility...) the you can buy one...

Do you have a CVT? (Continuosly Variable Transmission) I doubt that you do so if you dont, nissans are known to have hard shift into second gear you mean.(Once the car moves, its already in first gear) so if it shifts fine into other gears, I wouldnt worry too much unless it gets worse.

I guess the best , easiest & cheapest thing to do, right of the start is get fluid & filter changed, and lube all cables & linkages thoroughly, unless that's all been done recently.

your best solution wont work because it is an 88 they can only scan '96 and newer when OBD II came out so know what you are talking about before you post
those cars are known for fuelinjection probs. your best bet is to first get your self a fuel pressure regulator and Gauge to determin how much fuel you are pushung and get it tuned up by some one who knows what they are doing because tuning will make or break a turbo car
