I have never seen the radiator fan working for

I found drops of spill over of anti freezing liquid on hoses that connects to radiator. radiator fan not working. I drove the car for 30 miles in order to heat up the car to find whether the radiator fan is working. But it is not? The mechanic advised me to replace the radiator fan/motor. what is the method to find whether the radiator fan is working or not? The a/c is running OK. But don't know whether its fan is working.

Turn on car, turn a/c to full blast. (max everything) with hood open, check if fan turns on or not. if not. unplug the connector on the fan motor located on the wire going to the fan. then take a positive and negative lead and connect them to the battery accordingly to the pos and neg. if it does not spin, you need a new motor.

Turn the a/c on max with the fan to full high speed position and roll the windows down. Lift the hood and you should see the fan running at low speed. Then as the engine warms up to normal operating temperature, the fan should switch to high speed.
Let me know.

Well the first thing I can tell you is that the radiator fan should kick on as soon as you turn on the a/c. That's because of the extra strain it puts on the engine. So, if you don't see or hear the fan go on with the a/c, it's probably dead. You could also unplug the fan and run a jumper wire off of the battery to see if it goes on.

How come it smoke smell like rages burning

Often times your engine , once overheated, will take time to return to normal....the high temps of your engine, will cause burnt odors due to old oil residues, anti freeze overflow etc..sometimes a simple engine cleansing will help to eliminate these odors..take care not to spill any liquids such as oil, antifreeze, power steering , brake or transmission fluids onto your engine....good luck

2003 Honda Civic LX 90k miles replaced parts: thermostat, radiator cap, radiator. major timing belt job including water pump. Car is overheating: When i am idle coming off the highway the gauge...

it is possible that when the water pressure rises in your radiator, and the radiator shoots the water into the reserve tank, that hose is not properly put on(happens alot when changing radiator) and the coolant leaks rapidly through there. another thing i suggest is observe your fan behavior. fans usually are only supposed to turn on for a couple of seconds, around 10 or 15. park your car, and let the car reach normal operating temperature. when the car starts to over heat, check to see if your fans turn off at all. if they do, then it is most likely the tw swith,or the water temperature switch. if you notice the fans stay running, then i suggest obesrving your hoses and replaing any that spill coolant because even a pressure test on your cooling system can miss a small pucture in a hose, which after a while will cause your coolant to leak, and your car to overheat. hope this helps. if still nothing, drop a comment and ill help you out somemore, but for now, this is the practical thing to do. hope this helps, goodluck.

No heat

Check for the following causes:
  • Insufficient coolant - i. e., not enough to permit flow in the heater core.
  • Anti-freeze concentration (too much water will allow the liquid to freeze in the radiator, heater core or hoses). This can also cause engine overheating.
  • Collapsed hose to heater core (check both hoses).
  • Bad thermostat on engine.
  • Heater blower not working.
  • Heater door not opening.

I need to change my radiator in my 98 jeep Cherokee. Can I change it myself or do I need to take it some where? I don't know how hard it is.

It's not difficult, but before you do you might invest $15 and buy service manual. Autozone, Advance, any good parts stores carry Haynes or Clymers manuals. Both give great step by step and tools needed to do the job correctly.

There is a green liquid coming from the carborater an the car won't start what could it be.

the green liquid that i am familar with is anti freeze, but i have not seen it around the carbuertors, unless a top radiator hose was leaking from the thermostat housing, and it got over to that area. is the battery charged up, make sure the battery connections are tight and clean, is the starter turning over or just clicking, if it is clicking, could be connections, or starter solenoid, or the starter itself.

Anti freeze leaks slow out the bottom can I put a liquid seal repair to fix it .

Out the bottom is not a location, it's a general area. You need to actually locate the actual source of the leak before attempting to make a repair of any kind.
sealers sometimes work on small leaks from the radiator, but will not work to stop a leak in either a hose or your water pump. Those need to be replaced if leaking. I have seen items sealed with sealers last for several years but they still should be considered temporary.

What is the hose for that comes out from the top of the radiator for and where does it go connected

This hose connects the engine to the radiator. Coolant flows thru the thermostat located where the hose attaches to the engine into the radiator to cool it.

My 1998 STS is still overheating after replacing the thermostat. The fans work. The radiator is clear. I have no reason to think the water pump is not working. I have a new temp sensor, but have not...

Did you try replacing the radiator cap? Most over looked problem I have seen, and does the hose to the overflow tank leak? Do you have antifreeze in it? Look inside the radiator while the car is running if the water is moving then the pump is ok if not then the pump may be bad. I have seen water pump shafts break and the impeller not turn and show no other symptoms but when removed found the shaft broke.

2001 Honda CRV radiator leaking

I had the same problem and traced it to the joint between the plastic bottom and the metal body. This is a common fault, you would new a pressure test to confirm.

Help!

Well, an old hose can bust for several reasons. Would assume that the temperature change from driving raised pressure enough that a weakened portion finally broke. As for the fans, check fuses and connections, then verify voltage going to the fan. If there is voltage and it is still not working, you have a bad fan.
