How can I tell which transmission I have?

no ENGINE TOLD AT ALL, SOME NEED HIGHER TORQUE TRANNY
THIS CAR HAS RPO , LIST BASED ON VIN AND TELLS THE 3 DIGIT COLD FOR TRANNY , ALL GM DEALER CAN LOOK UP THAT CODE

must fit and not make the TCM angry.
ask chevy maker for the fits list
or ask any transmission repair shops for the list.

a transmission, has many options by class series number.
even different RATIO'S AND LENGTH, MOUNTS AND TCM CONNECTIONS FUNCTIONS.
EXAMPLES ,NOT SAYING IT IS YOURS, ONLY CAN BE.
SERIES 4L60E (JUST A SERIES ok , UNDER STAND ?)
M30 : TRANSMISSION, AUTO 4 SPD, HMD, 4L60E, ELECTRONIC

take your vin number to a service dealer and have it identified

Usually requires a copy of your title as well as your registration and of course proper ID. The dealer can have it Emailed to them and Program cut it or they will overnight ship it to You Cost depends on How complicated the Key is Digital Security Etc...

To find out for sure,call your Dealer,ask for parts,then tell the person,you need a transmission and need to know the type and cost,he will ask for your vin number,should be on your car insurance card,they will look it up and tell you for free.

There should be a part number on a decal attached to the hose. The dealer will need that number or may be able to look it up using the VIN number.
