The owners manual states 'do not plug accessories into the cig. lighter.' They are only to be plugged into the 'power point' outlets. This is probably why the fuse blew, it can't handle accessories. You need to replace fuse #41 with a 20 amp fuse. This fuse also controls the OBDII diagnostic port, so until it's replaced, you won't be able to scan for check engine codes. If you need a replacement manual, you can download one for free at the official Ford site.

Should be in the owners manual, and actually on the inside of the compartment lid..
...my method usually resorts to sequentially trying a good fuse...or use the probes on a cheap VOM (volt ohm meter) (3 to 5 bucks at harbor freight) to check voltage on one side of fuse then other (versus ground)--if 12 volt on one side and zero on other the fuse is blown (in situ)--or take each out and check on the continuity (resistance ohm) setting
...First make sure they did not stuff any thing in the receptacle to cause short.

When I open the front passenger door 2006 buick rendezvous- interior light do not come on

The fuse may have blown and fix the problem, but it is not the solution as theremust have been something that blew the fuse. Many people plug things such as inverters into the cig lighter which draw too much amperage. Just be aware of what yoi are plugging into yoir cigarette llighter. If the fuse blows right away after the plug it in...there is a short in the circuit somewhere. Good luck!

Hello, I have a 1997 mustang and the fuse box cover is missing under the dash......I need to replace the cig. lighter fuse and don't know which one.Thx Ross

Hi, that fuse is under the hood. You can see diagrams of both panels in the owner's manual. Get a free download here if you don't have one:

Blew a 25 amp fuse for the cigarette lighter, replaced it with a new one but still not getting any power from the cig lighter, is there another fuse hidden somewhere??

No power from the cig lighter if you have a voltmeter youll have to test it for power at its harness behing the cig lighter, just to let you know that cig lighter also wears out and a replacement may be it the fix for you, also there is only one fuse for it

01 ford expedition diagnostic plug in

The data link gets it's power from the fuse that also powers the cig. lighter,is the cig. lighter working?
If not check fuse no.3 (20amp) in the interior fuse panel.

We have seen on some occasions that some scan tools just will not link up for some reason. We have had several vehicles that customer went to have their state inspections done and the tester at that shop would not link up.We hook our ford diagnostic tester to it and it links right up,we then hook them to our inspection machine(which is not ford equipment) and they link right up to it.

2006 ford fusion i cant find the cig lighter fuse

The fuse for the cigarette light is fuse number 15 in the fuse box inside the vehicle. The fuse will be a 20 amp fuse. The fuse panel will be under the dash on the driver side. This will have a cover over it and may take a flashlight to find. Replace the fuse and test to see if its working. If its not check the fuse again. If you find it blown again look for loose change or some conductor stuck in the cigarette lighter. good luck
