Question about Opel Cars & Trucks

Open Question

I have an Opel (Vauxhall) Adam Jam 2015 with 69000km on the clock , driving normally when the gear shifter became "disconnected"

I have had no shudder on pull away or difficulty selecting gears previously, what do you think the fault could be? I am skeptical of the dealers immediate response that the clutch has gone

SOURCE: Car gear change - Suzuki Swift

I can confirm the fault is with the nylon bush lifting in the gear lever housing at the base of the gear lever. The dealer has yet to replace mine, however I have carried out a very temorary repair by fitting a cable tie around the circumference of the housing. lift the gaitor from around the gear lever to access. I have not had a problem since. This car is a driving school car and obviously does a lot of gear changes. If the parts are changed but no modification is carried out I am sure the fault will re occur, however at least I know the fault and can overcome it.

SOURCE: Clutch shudder and loose gears

It sounds to me like the clutch is slipping or it was not properly adjusted. I would take it back and tell them to take it out for a drive around the block. If they still refuse to do anything about it, take it to another garage and get their opinion. Better yet, get a written estimate. Then take it back to the garage that put the clutch in and tell them either fix the problem for free or you are going to take it elsewhere to get it fixed and sue them in small claims court. I do know that when i replaced my clutch, you need to have about a 100 mile break in. But still, the gears should not be loose and it should shudder. If anything, a new clutch will grab hard with very little play untill it is broke in.

SOURCE: Clutch shudder and loose gears

Who ever did the job has a right to fix it. They probably didn't want to deal with it and waste their time and money to remedy the problem. Call them, and tell them, that if they don't want to find the cause, that you will get a lawyer involved, that should put a fire under their butts. Keep your receipts for proof of what was done.

SOURCE: Hi On driving a Suzuki Vitara JLX 96 P Reg

Sounds like a clutch problem to me.
So, with the engine off, can you select all gears? If yes, your gearbox is probably OK.
And now with the engine idling, can you select any gears with out crunching? If this is difficult, then try this next test in an area where movement forward or backwards won't be a problem.
With the engine OFF, foot ON the clutch, the handbrake OFF, and in 1st gear, start the car. BE READY TO TURN IT OFF.
If the car moved forward as you cranked the engine, then your clutch is not adjusted properly or has worn out. That is more-than-likely the smell you got before - burnt clutch disc from it slipping.
You can drive it, but every time you want to start off, you'll have to turn the engine off, select 1st then start the engine. Accelerate slowly, making sure the revs don't rise faster that you're speeding up, and change gear by judging engine revs between gears.
Don't keep driving it as it is, as you WILL have gearbox problems if you don't fix the clutch.

2003 Focus zx5 with a 5 speed manual. Yesterday after driving about 50 miles it became more and more difficult to push into all gears but would go if forced. Clutch worked and could drive it but could hear...

The transmission has synchronisers to help line up the gears when you shift from one gear to another. If this transmission has been treated rough or rawhided and speed shifted, these synchroniser clips become bent and turn up and won't allow the synchroniser to slid over them into place and hold the transmission in gear. Eventually you will have to replace them. You will notice if you take it easy when shifting, it will get easier. Don't get in a hurry and jam the shifter or it will just get worse and they will have to be replaced. I hope you better understand how your shifter work. I hope you can buy some time before you have to put a fair amount of money it to it.
Good Luck.

Is the transfer case in the 2000 chevy 1500 chain driven or gear driven

I don't know for a fact but considering a lot of the smaller Chevies are recycled Vauxhall/Opel designs I guess a chain drive is used.

The small Chevrolets used to be called Daewoo and was dirt cheap to mend until they went bust and General Motors bought them and renamed them, suddenly they got Vauxhall/Opel parts prices.

What is the oil capacity of an Opel Corsa 1.7 DTI utility manual gearbox and what grade oil should be used

As a standard, any front wheel drive car uses ATF lubricant or better known as Automatic Transmission Fluid to lubricate it's gearbox, you can recognise it by its colour witch is deep red, an opel/vauxhall corsa/astra 1.7d/1.7di/1.7dti/1.7cdti uses ATF II, not a easy trans to fill, suggest you let a dealer do this service

Vauxhall combo2012 blower just stopped working think it a fuse but not listed in owners manual anyone know which fuse it is

It is listed in the owner's manual. Remember, there is more than one fuse box. The fuse you're looking for may be under the bonnet.

Keep looking Adam, keep searching. You'll be so rightly pleased with yourself when you fix it.

Have 1999 astra witch shudders when driving in all geers

Could be several things
If it judders when changing gears it is probably a worn or oil contaminated clutch or a hydraulic problem, clutch activator/leaking pipe/low fluid level.
If it shudders whilst driving it is probably a worn driveshaft or hub bearing.
If it shudders whilst braking it is probably worn brake disks or a sticking brake caliper.
Have it checked out by a local garage as leaving it will only make matters worse.

Hope this helps

After starting the car and pressing on the clutch, my shifter wont go into any gears, i go to put it in first and the shifter itself wont go in, what could cause this

If the shifter feels loose, the shifter linkage / damper to the gearbox became disconnected, or broken. These parts are serviceable, and should be replaced when shifting ceases to be accurate, and gears are hard to find. If the shifter feels normal, then the clutch is out of adjustment and not disengaging completely, or there is a failure of some sort inside the gearbox.

I'm going to guess and say have the catalytic converter checked.  If that's will also be giving you poor performance and mileage.
Also replace the exhaust sensors and check the plugs for condition and gap.  Replace the air filter and pcv valve.
