How can I tell if my 1999 Toyota Avalon has a transponder key. I have lost my keys and a locksmith told me it would be $99 if it is not a transponder key and $165 if it is a transponder key. My key is metal but there is a "black plastic wrap" around the key

- I called the dealership and was advised they would have to replace the entire "key ignition" which cost $1500 but Toyota would pay for the part 1 time but I would have to pay the labor which was $295. Fortunately, I was able to locate the key. It was in the passenger side outside door lock (my stupidity)
my car stayed started ater the key was removed...then when the key was put back in the car started...

my car stayed started ater the key was removed...then when the key was put back in the car started untill it shut off. when i tried to jump the car the cables became really hot.
