SOURCE: location of inertia switch/fuel pump

Yes it can. It doesn't take much like slamming a door or dropping a load of parts. There is only a magnetic ball inside the contacts and it is a wonder that Railroad tracks and Potholes do not trigger more shutoffs. All you do is find the switch and hold down the button on it for about 3 seconds.

Then try starting the van without slamming the doors shut until it is running. If the Inertia switch does not help check the fuse panel, then the relay. The relay should either be in the Black powerbox group or in with the fuseholders.

Location of cut off switch

If you use a search engine like Goggle, enter 2001 f450 Inertia switch location in the search box. This will pull up photos and may display a video of the process.

It looks like the position is behind the passengers kickpanel, but it also shows the other side and near the right side of the trans hump left of heater. Could have to do with fuel system or trans type. Saw one that was under hood next to wiper fluid reservoir.

Those on the Drivers side are crunched behind the e-brake hardware. For a few feet of wire, this part could have a permanent home on all Models.

Will not start

The most frequent cause is the Inertia switch. Usually in a car with Air-ride the switch is located in the trunk next to the Air-ride switch. It has a reset button.
Other styles of Inertia switches are behind the front floor kick panels. Do an Internet search for "2001 Lincoln LS Inertia switch location".
If you mean the Engine did not crank over- A common problem is a switch on the top of the brake pedal lever. Often the brake lights will not work with this defect. Press the pedal and see.
The brake pedal switch often gets hit by a drivers foot and breaks or gets repositioned.

Following some fuel problems on a bmw 323ci, I've been told there is a reset button that should take away the problem of the cars engine not turning over once fueled and ready to go.

there is an inertia switch that shuts the fuel pump off in the event of a accident. normally located in the trunk when front engine cars are concerned, but it could also be located behind the kick panel which is by your feet below the dash, probably on the passenger side. consult the owners manual for the location.
the switch should only need to be reset if you were in an accident. what work was done to the fuel system? have you checked fuses and relays?
