Dodge Journey 2010 R/T horn goes off randomly incl. when clock spring disconnected, battery goes flat within 48 hours and occasional random warning lights on dash. No fault codes.

Update: I ended up replacing the TIPM and also tracing the wiring, then replacing the horn contacts just to be sure. $2500. Then I sold it at a huge loss and resolved never to buy another American car.

SOURCE: How to get at the

First, you will need to jack up the driver side front wheel.
Then, remove the wheel.
With the wheel off, you can remove the plastic fasteners holding the battery access panel (bottom front section of inner wheel well).
After you remove the cover you can reach in and disconnect the cables, then remove the battery.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: 1997 VW Golf...airbag light on...fault codes read

Did you have the code cleared after you installed the new part because the ECM cannot clear itself, even though you installed a new part and the code is still in the system? You need to have the code erased with a OBD II scanner.

SOURCE: Horn alarm randomly beeps

Make sure to check all doors, the trunk latch, and the hood to ensure that they are shut. I have looked up your 2006 Chevy Malibu and there has been a lot of people complaining about the alarm system and it going off. There is a TBS (Technical Service Bulletin) out for your car. The TBS says that the Faulty Door Sensor. Take it to your local dealership and tell him what I found for you and they should get you a quote on how much it would cost to repair it.

Thank you for using Fix Ya!

Dodge Journey horn honks on its own while driving or while switched off in the driveway. Pulled the horn fuses but the battery has now started draining overnight.

This problem might be a short circuit in the "clockspring' device that is in the steering wheel. That is pretty easy to replace and not real expensive. Youtube vids show how to do this.

How can I fix the horn on my 07 Chrysler pacifica. The horn will randomly go off while driving or just sitting in the driveway.

Check, test or replace a worn out battery

After you have a good battery, have to find out
what the horn circuit looks like

Need a wiring diagram for that

May be your horn system is part of the clock spring
under the steering wheel & that item is worn & needs
to be replaced

I disconnected Battery to replace clock spring. Horn not working and airbag light off. Reconnected battery + 1st then -. Horn sounded. (not alarm) pulled - back off, removed horn fuse, reconnected....

You may of forgot to plug back in the ground wire that connects to the horn bracket under the air bag. It's just a single wire and should have a tiny black connector on the end of it.

2006 Dodge Charger with 136k miles. Horn beeps completely randomly.

There is a short circuit within your steering column and the copper rod that is linked to the horn and the circular strip on steering wheel are now in contact. Remove steering wheel and check there is the spring on the inner part that is either not harnessed well or has broken into pieces and hence the contact.

2003 dodge caravan airbag good horn doesnt work,so i jumped horn relay horn worked .so i now know relay to horn is good clock spring wiring horn pad?fuse compartment on wiring diagram has horn relay 20 amp...

if you check the wire that comes from the horn button to the relay for voltage when the horn is pushed and have voltage then you have a bad relay,if not then you probably have bad contacts in the horn pad area or even the clock spring itself.

Clock spring in 04 dodge dadota causing problems with airbag, cruise control and horn. how do you change this.

1st and foremost you must disarm the airbag, do this by leaving the battery disconnected for 1 hour, then remove the steering wheel, u will need a steering wheel puller, they are cheap and all auto parts stores have them, after the wheel is off the clock spring is right there and held on by 3 or 4 screws, varies with year. WARNING!! FAILURE TO DISARM THE AIRBAG CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH!!!

Horn blows randomly when closing doors

Horns have constant power all the time so when you press the horn button, all you are doing is grounding the circuit and that makes the horn blow. Usually what happens is that a spring breaks underneath where the horn button is or something allows the horn button to ground out somewhere, possibly even through the inside of the steering column.
