I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and the o/d off light stays on the dash, if I don’t drive it for a day I can drive it with overdrive on for maybe 4 miles then it turns off without touching the button and it stays on constantly with no 4th gear. It doesn’t turn on and off with the button unless it’s in that 4 miles the overdrive works. What could that be? PLEASE HELP!

I am not familiar with this model but it sounds like dodgy electricals to me. A poor connection could gradually heat up until the resistance becomes high enough to switch off the overdrive. Try cleaning up the connections to the overdrive solonoid on overdrive unit under the car. One other possibility is that the solonoid it's self is in need of replacement, this is a common fault on overdrive units. Not being an expert on this particular vehicle, I wouldn't want to speculate on how easy or difficult the solonoid is to replace.

SOURCE: 2000 jeep grand cherokee limited starts in 3rd gear

oil pressure problem should be checked independently of other problems...Use a good accurate mechanical gauge to check. If pressure is good (no less than 15psi at idle hot (I prefer to see at least 20) check dash grounding, block ground and if OK, change sending unit. Dash and body ground can influence operation of shift and body control modules so indirectly your problem may or may not be related, depending upon what you find while testing. And it could turn out to be a defective module! They are expensive and just plugging new ones in may work, but then again, it might not. I might be totally incorrect on this...that's the value of actually being there instead of doing this by "remote control".
If you read the numerous posts pertaining to all vehicles, you will see that you are not alone with electrical problems...As long as the engineers who design this stuff, keep using "modules" to replace ordinary simple and reliable systems, we will continue to have these problems. Do some testing and I'm sure you will find a solution! (I'm still waiting for someone to make a program for a PC that will give a complete readout of every system in a vehicle, including exact faults instead of general system "suggestions")
Good luck

SOURCE: 2000 es300 lexus auto w overdrive button overdrive 4th gear not work

There isn't anything wrong with your car. This is perfectly normal. I have a 2000 ES300 as well as other people that I know and it operates in the same way. Overdrive doesn't mean the same thing for every car or transmission. In our case overdrive is simply a reference to the top gear which is 4th gear. When you switch overdrive off(which is depressing the button causing the O/D OFF dash light to illuminate,) the highest gear becomes 3rd because you turned 4th gear or overdrive off. The application scenario for this is usually mountainous terrain where a lot of uphill driving makes it more feasible not to up shift into 4th gear while ascending and descending. It will not switch back to overdrive or 4th gear until you re-engage it by turning the overdrive back on or repressing the button. Again, when the O/D OFF dash light is illuminated, overdrive which is 4th gear is off and the highest gear will then become 3rd. It will never shift into 4th gear while this light is illuminated or overdrive is off. When you press the button and the O/D OFF dash light is NOT illuminated overdrive is on and therefore it will shift into 4th gear as usual. This applies to all 97-2001 ES300's and probably any other car you drive tat exhibits this same type of change when overdrive is turned off.

Computer controlled transmissions can get confused at times, from my personal experience. If the problem doesn't happen again, I would ignore it. If it happens all the time, it's most likely the transmission computer. Other things could be the shift linkage, engine vacuum leak, speed sensor, etc... Hope this helps.

Sounds like an electrical problem; look for loose, corroded or kinked/broken wires. The problem is most likely in the dash wiring/connections and seems to be pretty common in jeeps.

My sunroof is stuck open on my 1999 jeep grand cherokee laredo? Would it be a fuse? If so, how do you change it?

Check the fuses under the dash on the drivers side, next to the steering column. There should be a fuse puller on the fuse box door. Also a chart of which fuses at what so you can go to the proper fuse. Good luck, Please let me know if this is the solution to your problem.
