Take it to a repair shop or you r local auto parts store such as autozone and ask them to place a scanner on it and make note of any trouble codes they find. That light will come on for a variety of reasons with a few commno one like your gas cap wasnt properly installed after fill up/leaving car running during fuill up to a major engine problem.

Have your vehicle's computer scanned at autozone or advance auto its free!! They will give you the code for the malfunction. It's possible that its a sensor that doesn't affect daily driving, but affects emissions which may cause future problems. Hopefully this helps!!

The Check Engine Light does not have to come on for someone to find out what is wrong. A shop may have to have the car for a few days so they can run some tests on your fuel and ignition systems. They will most likely have to drive the car/run the engine to duplicate the symptom so they can catch it while it is malfunctioning. Intermittent problems can be very elusive, but they can be diagnosed with a little patience. The level of your fuel gauge most likely has nothing to do with your starting problem.

Like, which engine is installed on your vehicle???... you know, there were three different engines (a 4 cylinder and two different 6 cylinders) available on the 04 Santa Fe. Tell you what, since you're so eager to find the 'location of the throttle control sessor, Go to www.hmaservice.com and register( Vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you have access to shop manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, etc. about your vehicle.

The vehicle will run fine for a while until that cat goes out all the way, the only thing that might get you away cheaper than $1,000 is a wrecking yard cat, but then you still take risks. If the cat is bad its bad nothing to do but replace it.

05 Santa fe 3000 rpm vehicle stops, turn off wait restart runs like new
seems like engine goes to "save run" mode. the reason why is stored in the onboad computer usualy. have someone read that error code with an OBD interface, and act accoringly to that code.

If you live in the US, take it to qany Auto Zone store and thy will read the codes off for you, I would suspect any right thinking competitor would do the same, check if you don't have one near by.

2004 Santa Fe, needs to have the engine replaced at 199,000 km. Just stopped while driving on the highway, about 85 km/hr. My valve head broke off at the head and all the pieces ended up in my oil pan....
did you mechanic change the timming belt that happens and also if it is slamed in to reverse while driving will damage it that way also
