Why is my s10 running lean it bogs and gets hot when put under a load like going up hills. i set the timming and it lost all power but cranks fine. so i put the timming back far to left of marks on top of pully. and it runs better but still glows header when under load

if you have a mass air flow sensor, clean it with carb cleaner to remove varnish. not sure if S10 has one.

Your timing is way retrded which is why the manifold glows red hot. It sounds like your timing belt or chain slipped a notch.

92 geo tracker starts fine then during idle it sputters out unless I pump the gas. If I run it to 3000 rpm it seems ok, but anything under it dies. Changed fuel filter. Fuel pump hums so don't think

what engine, 16valves, or 8valves. silver top or black?
MPI or TBI engine. they sold both and are vastly different.
hums dont mean a thing, only that the pump can make noise.
pressure rules (and flow #1)
ive personally fixed every fail possible on these, stalls.
owned many and fixed more. (own 3 and restored them to 100% )
unfortunately this older car is not OBD2 level ECU/PCM.
so no scan tools work.
Ever give it a tune up.? at the 60k mile interval.? repeats?
1: spare parts, both filters. and timing belt?
2: EGR ,main loves to stick open if it does engine will stall.
starts fine , yes
does engine get to 180F coolant temp and hold? if not fix that first.
is engine idle at 800RPM, hot? y/n? if yes, EGR is not stuck open.
if lower, EGR stuck. or other probs.
not knowing which engine makes answers hard, and only generic.
not knowing the transmission option too, makes it hard. 3,4,5speed.?
the 3sp can have vacuum leaks that can be real bad for the 16v engine, see? see how the work together? or not?
3: bad TPS.
stalling happens for 2 reasons (not counting bad engine)
the ECU (engine EFI brain, puter. etc) does all it can to stop stalls
it has 2 slaves to do that. one is ISC other is spark timing.
when stalls happens this is a warning that the ISC is bad,
or is overloaded.
A: MISFIRE. Gross.( 50 reasons, but can be to rich or just needs a tuneup.)
B: bogging . Gross (too lean, or called fuel starvation)
my questions.
does hot idle run at 800 all the time. RPM.
does engine have full power on hills.
does engine stall coming up to traffic stops (EGR malf)
does the lost power. recover, with just holding throttle down? only?
can you tell the difference from bog and misfire.
bog is lack of power, its smooth
misfire is violent, it shacks the motor. does it?
when you pump the throttle, this engages ENRICH mode
in the ECU , and overrides lean,.
my guess, (cant drive it and if could , i can tell whats going on)
but based on your inputs, it say its lean.
if power is low on hills, i then.
grab my fuel pressure gauge. $20
i do this at every fuel filter change, since im THERE already
it has a test port, a 6mm plug.
i take this hose and check for 30psi,
see why guess here.
34 to 36PSI, key on, 3 times, (both engines, not stated, so..)
see the tool here, for next to nothing. costs.
http://www.fixkick.com/INJECTORS/pump.html

the EFI totally can no work at 20 PSI or hums.
it must be at leas 34psi.
below 28 the injectors fail. (read injector spec, and see that)
if the pressure is good there is hope.

post engine type, 4 injectors or 1.
and can go way deeper and more accurate.

bogging is here

WHAT CAUSE A MERCURY VILLAGER TO BOG GOING UP A HILL

when the tank gets low on fuel(under 1/4) or less.. the pump, which uses the gas to keep cool, will get hot and start to cavitate(run at slower speeds and cause a severe fuel pressure surge)..the engine will respond accordingly..most will do this as the system gets older..to avoid it and possible premature pump failure, keep the tank at least 1/4 fll..

Idle fine give gas brakes up pops new coil like out of time all mart are right crank h

can i buy a comma? says Vanna White, LOL !, i cant understand that.
brakes up pops? the cars foot service brakes, fail?

new coil, car has 10 or more coils which one, is a problem.
no year stated (fail)
no engine option stated (fail ) and country. fail 3.
Jeeps are sold all over earth, in 3 types. and postal an police, (5)
1984 ? 2001? i6? v6?
the only word i found , clear was pops

this is back fire, but to intake side or exhaust.?
intake side is bad spark timing.
exh side is gross over fueling and cracks in the exhaust pipe,
causing what is called, muffler explosions... loud report
the intake pops are back fires and is a not so loud , cough. sound.
or hickup
induction back fire is 90% bad ignition, and 10% causes by huge lean conditions.
Engine posts:
does it run bad, cold , hot engine or both?
does the engine run bad, even raced, in neutral , or cold.?
does the engine misfire at any time. say when?
does the engine bog, (lost power up hills or any time)? explain when.?

My 97 Bonneville lost power while I was driving about 55. When I tried to give it some gas it just bogged down more...it suddenly started running good but only for a few seconds then back to the bogging...

Exhaust leak causing the PO131 & lean condition
Evap leak causing the lean condition

Two lean conditions that can't be controlled
until you fix all the issues

1983 f150 with 351 windsor. Recent problem of bogging down when climbing moderate hills. Also sounds of ticking noise, lifters or manifolds leak? Any help much appreciated.

A leaking exhaust manifold could make a ticking noise. So could a lifter or valve. The exhaust noise would be louder under load.
If the carb is running too lean, or you have a vac leak, the lean fuel mixture could make the exhaust leak worse, and cause the loss of power.

2002 s10 zr2 runs rough bogs down when you

First check for any cracked pipes leading into the intake manifold If all OK (with no codes showing it probably is OK) try checking the fuel pressure regulator. If you smell fuel from the pressure regulator vacuum side arm (when the vacuum line has been disconnected) it needs to be replaced.

1993 Ford Tuarus Gl IN NEED OF HELP!

Well this could be in your timing. As cars get some miles on them the timing chain stretches therefore causing you car to lose alot of power. So you may want to have your timing set on this car. Also I had a taurus that had a bad torque converter, and it lost alot of power on hills and under loads, also when i gunned the gas pedal. so try the timing first. Hopefully you dont have a bad head gasket or a cracked head these symptoms you are describing are all signs of head gaskets or blown heads
