Compressing the rear caliper i am trying to compress rear caliper with a c clamp and it wont move

with a question like that get a repair manual before you damage something or have someone do your repairs ----to compress a rear caliper need to remove wheel and remove caliper then using a compression tool compress piston ---or use a c-clamp and old brake pad and do same

there a couple ways to do it. You can use a c-clamp to compress it or buy a brake caliper compression tool at your local auto parts store

Open the bleeder to compress caliper piston

If you use a c-clamp, you will ruin the parking
brake in caliper

The piston gets turned or screwed in with the correct tool,
as you also push in

2. REAR CALIPER: RENT AT AUTOZONE A REAR DISC CALIPER COMPRESSION TOOL. THESE CALIPER PISTONS WIND IN CLOCKWISE, INSTEAD OF JUST SLIDING BACK INTO A SMOOTH BORE. THEY HAVE GROOVES THAT FOLLOW A MATCHING SET IN THE CALIPER HOUSING.

YOU NEED TO REMOVE 2/3 BRAKE FLUID FROM MASTER CYLINDER.THEN YOU WILL NEED A LARGE C -CLAMP.OPEN C - CLAMP PLACE C - CLAMP OVER TOP BRAKE CALIPER AND AGAINST THE BACK OF THE OUTBOARD BRAKE PAD. THEN TIGHTEN THE C -CLAMP UNTIL THE CALIPER PISTON IS PUSHED INTO THE CALIPER BORE JUST ENOUGH TO SLIDE CALIPER OFF THE ROTOR.WARNING WHEN FINISHING BRAKE JOB.PLACE COVER BACK ON MASTER CYLINDER.TAKE FOOT PUMP BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL YOU GET SOLID BRAKES.THIS SEATS BRAKE SHOES AGAINST THE ROTOR.THEN RECHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN MASTER CYLINDER.

Unlike most other calipers the rear caliper on a Montana cannot be compressed with a c-clamp but rather you need to turn it in like a screw

take calipers loose from rotor.then take large c clamp and put one side on the piston the other side on backside of caliper.the tighten c clamp untill caliper is compressed;oh yea before you do ant of this remove cap from master cylinder

use c type clamps compress slowly clean caliper first

Try to release the bleeder valve while compressing the piston if it moves then you need a new rubber brake line if still dont move then need to replace the caliper hope this helps .

Chalk the front wheels, car is on jackstands i hope, release the handbrake, use the old pad with a c- clamp to compress the pistion on the caliper, install new pads. may have to take the cap off the master cylinder, if none of this works, open the bleeder valve, and compress the piston, rebleed the caliper.
