Hello i haveGolf mk3 1.4 1995 and i had to remove camshaft sproket to try to fix a crack in block. now engine does not start and it does not have ot marks or any other marks. can someone help me with timing procedures and precautions ? i took a pic before i dismounted the camshaft sproket if necessary. i believe timing is not correct but since my sprocket does not have the ot marks like shown on manuals online i dont know how to do the timing and i am afraid to bent valves ...like i said i took a picture of the distribution b4 dismounting the belt that shows how it is aligned . do you think if i try to setup how it is on picture i took before it should be ok since i did not dismount any other pulley or belt its all has it was b4? thanks for any help is apreciated michael

Pull the spark plugs out of #1 cylinder put your finger over the whole on #1 cylinder and slowly turn the engine over to tdc and make sure you can feel pressure on the pushing your finger off the whole so you know it's on compression stroke
What is a timing gun? Timing of my Volkswagen Malaysia car is also ircorrect.
Timing marks for crank and camp
You have to get a timing gun. but i would prefer taking it to a shop. i am a pro but i still take it to the shop
