Overheating issues for a 2001 grand jeep cherokke

I have a 2001 grand jeep cherokee laredo with 149,900 that runs hot I have had the fan replaced, had a new relay switch replaced, thermostat and now the dealer is telling me that the head is worped had it taken to a machine shop sand it down, and the mechanic put everything back together and I get a call saying that it's still overheating. What could be the problem. Everything else according to the jeep dealer is doing what it's suppose to be doing, so they are sending the head back to the machine shop and that's where we stand today?

Any ideas

Is the radiator clean? Often the cores can be blocked by bits of old gasket and crud if work has been done to the motor. Mud can sometimes cake into cores too so a backflush may not remove it. Best way to clean is to take off a tank and clean them properly.

If it was overheating at freeway speed then it is a clogged radiator. Another cause of overheating is a timing that is retarded. These can be caused by worn timing components etc, although a possiblity it is highly unlikely on your car.

2001 jeep grand cherokee laredo overheating

There is a good chance the head gasket is leaking.
If the air flow thru the radiator is good, and the coolant flow is good, there could be something like an exhaust restriction that is causing extra heat, or the head gasket may be leaking.
Will it get hot just sitting still, or do you have to be driving it ?

If the fan is not cycling when the engine gets hot, you'll have to test the fan motor and the temperature sensor. If the fan is running and it's still hot, the thermostat may be the cause.

Overheating

If this is a 4.7 the fan is computer controlled. Do not give into the temptation to direct wire this fan. You can blow your computer. Do yourself a favor, go to an expert on this one.

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo radiator fan doesn't turn on.

Check power to the relay. it can close, but if there is no power to it, it can't send anything to the fan.
signal goes from sensor, to the computer, to the relay. when it closes it transfers power from the hot side to the fan.
