IF you put the vehicle into park it should release fairly easily. Do not try to force it. If park doesnt work try nuetral but I believe on that it is park.

Is it possible the replacement engine has a water pump that turns the opposite direction from the original ?
The thermostat has to be open to allow flow thru the radiator, have you tried running without a thermostat to check flow ?

Its time for a new fuel pump . The check ball in the fuel pump that holds the residual pressure you need to start up the vehicle is defective.

3 bolts from the back, axle nut and take the caliper off pretty easy.
