2001 mitsubishi mirage de coupe. starts but will not stay on. checked filter and is ok.

You need to clean the throttle body .. then earth out the singke pin brown connector on the firewall to reset base idle .... the car needs to be a normal operating temperature

Possible that the OIL filter is clogged and is reducing the pressure due to this when the engine is idling or in low RPM. So before you run the engine further and make it more damaging , it is worth to have the engine oil / oil filter changed. If there is still no result, check the oil pressure switch. If not the oil pump can be faulty. This needs a technical help and should be consulted.

Electrical Problem With My 2002 Mitsubishi Mirage.

have the altanator tested with the lights wipers radio all on it is probably weak tighten belts if not cracked if cracked replace. see the regulator is probably bad it controls how much amps and voltage the alternater puts out thats why i put out first thing to do. its very important to have a good connection at battery no corrosion and good terminals not cracked or broken if in doubt replace them 3.00 to buy

Problem with air conditioning on 2001 mitsubishi mirage. "Sometimes" will not blow cold, just hot. Coolant level ok. Usually will will start blowing hot after runnning air while car is stopped at idle....

the air conditioning system has most likely drawn moisture this is not good take it to have the system recovered and a new restrictor valve put in. leak checked and recharged

Could be that your Oil pump is getting clogged or may not be fuctioning properly. Isnt getting enough power while at a low idle because its clogged.... When your stopped or in your driveway with the light on put your car in neutral and set the parking break and rev the motor up to 2200 RPM's and see if the light turns off.. If i does then that is most likely your problem.

More maintenance history needed. Oil changed regularly, timing belt replaced at 60 K miles, Engine air filter & intake air hose inspection?
Causes of the problem you describe are many. Recommend you have a technician check your throttle position sensor for any bad spots in the potentiometer... most likely cause when there is NO Check Engine light.

How long has it been since you treated your engine to a tune up?I would change your spark plugs and wires.

Check to see if your air intake is clear so air can pass into your throttle body. If that's okay, then check your IAC valve (Idle air control) an clean it off with some throttle body cleaner. Same for the opening of the throttle body. The IAC is directly below the TB opening, and of you still can't find it, a quick google image search will clarify.
