It could be many things, but after you have tried the other suggestions, please check that the EGR valve is not sticking open or getting vacuum when you try to start it. If so, you should temporarily disconnect it and look for an improper vacuum hose routing or bad thermo temp valve. First things to check though is improper fuel pressure or intermittent spark problems. Since starting fluid causes it to start, that would indicate a fuel problem. Factory fuel pressure should be at 33.6 psi. If you have the fuel injected model Festiva, you could have a bad injector. If you have a carburetor, check the fuel level in the bowl through the sight glass on the right side of the engine with a flashlight to see if the fuel pressure is keeping the bowl to the proper level (middle of sight glass).

do you know where the fuel filter is located? I am having a problem with the car cutting off and then it doesn't want to start and it acts like it is not getting any gas. does this sound like it could be the fuel filter needs to be changed?

Hi,Do the front brake discs on a fiesta separate from their hubs please. Hoping to use them or some thing similar to fit disc brakes to my 1966 Ford Anglia estate.I know I'll have to machine the original drums off the anglia's hubs to fit them however don't see any other major issues. Ian 105efan
