How do I change the battery I’ve tried but don’t want to be heavy handed it looks encased ??????

Any issues with the ignition switch itself? They are mostly made of plastic pieces. With the exception of the actual cylinder. Also depending on how long you had the battery issue,it may have damaged the alternator. They tend to go hand in hand,unless caught early enough. The alternator gets overworked due to the weak battery.

Pull the codes to see if it threw another one recently. Some codes will affect emissions and won't hinder driveability so much but some are for components that make the engine run. You may have had an emissions one for a while but recently got hit with a bad cam sensor or something.

sometimes they are placed in the trunk. on the 99 or 00 dodge intrepid it was behind the passenger tire. you can try the driver side to. it you take off the wheel there is a plastic pannel that you take off and there it is. (not that thatll help you much) but those are places you can look. hope this helps.

got the panel off?, i'm gonna assume it's power not a hand crank and that you've also closely checked your fuses, the only thing left is maybe a wire has come off the contact or you've burnt out the switch and that may need to be replaced but I'm sure if you inspect and follow the wires it may lead you to a problem along those lines. If nothing is wrong with the wiring, it could be the switch itself I don't know either how to nail down the issue so you could find out, maybe use a battery with some wires and try touching the leads and just give it power and if the door unlocks then you know it is your switch. That is a sure bet that you inadvertently disturbed a vacuum line, while changing the battery. You may end up having to remove the battery to see it or get to it. Look all around the battery, and anywhere you may have placed a hand or knee. It happens all the time. I've done it myself!

The only time mine has done this, the battery has been completely dead. I've had that happen to me 3 times in the 8 yrs I've had my Blazer. A new battery always fixed it. I hope that helps you

Check with a dealer, they can usually get you the code with proof of ownership, although some of them charge for it. I don't know about a MB, but I've had some luck looking on the internet, however they usually give you a flock of codes, and you need to keep on trying until you hit the correct one. Try the dealer first, and see what they will do for you. Good luck!

do you have remote start on that truck? if you do, it has a hood safety switch that will keep it from starting if hood is open. That hood switch is quite easily identifyable. Look for it on the drivers side, either close to the firewall or right at the front of the fuse box.itsa worth taking a look

YES.. the battery is bolted down w/a 12mm bolt. You need to look harder. Toward the front of the battery. You will find a battery lock-down plate and its 12mm bolt.
