What is it exactly that you're trying to check? In other words what prompted your attention to check it? Is it making noise? Do you think it's loose? Just wondering why you want to check it, normally the timing belt and tensioner don't require any maintenance or replacement until 105,000 miles. Or until the number 4 minder light is lit up on your dash. I am a Honda master technician that can help you with any questions you have. Keep in mind that you must provide all details of your concern.

SOURCE: How do I replace the timing belt on a 2007 Odyssey?

it is quite tough job for beginner but if you properly marked the position of the top dead centre, position of the pulley etc, it should be ok. remember any slight movement of the pulley will cause the engine to run erractically or cannot start at all.

Yes it is recommended to change the water pump, pully etc. as you mentioned

How do install a serpentine belt on a 2007 honda pilot

There is a serpentine belt tool you can rent from local auto parts stores. If the schematic for how your belt goes is missing ask for a printout on how to route your belt back on. There is a tensioner as well.

Camshaft pulley noise in honda odysee

you said pulley, do you mean the cam cog belt wheel?
and how do you know that? a stethoscope at ears?
my guess????
(damage has no limits on machines)
1; it is loose....
2: the timing belt is loose, (never changed at 60k-90k per FSM)
if the belt slips, you can kiss off a good engine. bent valves
or far worse. (no limits)
3: the new belt drifts running and hits the cover.
ask how and why , i have a 6 point list for that. seen them all.

the honda engine is INTERFERENCE CLASS.
the piston chases the exhaust valve closed, (max power and efficiency , is why)
and if the belt slips. the piston can hit the valve and bend them all.
with possible wrecked pistons, or worse, bent rods. cracked valve guides (wrecked head) and pounded to death rod bearings.
ask any engine builder for photos , we have many,, ask.

How do you change tensioner pulley on honda honda ridgeline

As you can tell from the picture it isn't too easy to reach. So you'll want to go under the vehicle to get at it I think. Release tension on the belt by pulling on the tensioner pully, using the appropriate socket on the pullys' spindle bolt. Slip the belt off the tensioner and then remove the tensioner mounting bracket.

One off the pulleys on the fan belt sounds noisy it a 2007 2.2 diesle honda civic

could be a timing belt tensioner as well so ask a local mechanic to have a look and a listen and then he will be able to point you in the right direction

How to change a serpentine belt on 2007 Honda ridgeline

You'll need a 1/2 inch socket wrench to fit on the inlet of the idler pulley. You'll also need an extension bar to lengthen the socket wrench because the wrench alone won't be long enough to reach. Apply pressure to the pulley to take the tension off the belt. Slide the belt off and then install the new one using the diagram under the hood as a guide. Check this thread for some photos:
