I would change the fuel gages if not part of teh complete instrument cluster.

yes it is a faulty float in the tank the next thing that u gotta watch out for is ith pump to go out my jimmy had 142000 miles on it and i replaceg the fuel pump myselt saving about 3 to 400 dollars the lowest i could find the pump for was 250 dallors + the lock ring was 25 dollars and thats a dealer part unless u go to the junk yard cause mine was so rusted that is just crumbled when i took it off so expeck to pay ab 300 for the parts and if u have a mechanic do add an additional 3 to 400 dollars to it.

It is what you call hunting. Carb or throttle body injection?. more than likely TBI. Could be the throttle position sensor,The mass air flow sensor, fuel pressure regulator. have the fuel pressure ck'd first.. then the throttle position sensor. then the maf sensor. Have the maf sensor cleaned, They are very expensive. Make sure the air cleaner is clean, clean. it and the maf work together. - good luck, Ned
SOURCE: Speedometer, Tachometer and Fuel Gauges stopped working.
that is likely either a blown fuse... or a relay that is not working. i don't have the manual handy for your car to tell you which one it is. remember there is also a fuse panel located in the engine compartment, on some cars it's in the trunk. look for any blown fuses
SOURCE: The lights on my dash board flicker on and off then turn off.
I had the same problem some time ago, lights would go on and off, odometer appeared to stop counting at times rpm gauge would work and then not... power steering would off and on work and head lights would blink on and off when in driving light mode (off position).. The fix for me was I had to have the dash computer replaced (about $500). After doing this around 50k miles ago all the gremlins seem to have remained gone.. Hope this helps
