I need to remove the side mirror to deal with the corrrosion on the base. How do you remove the mirror housing from the door? It appears to be bolted on from the outside, however I cannot see any obvious way to remove one of the halves of the housing to get at the bolts!

If it's like a 3 series, Pop off the plastic triangle piece from inside to expose the bolts and wiring harness.
