If fuel filter has been changed suspect lack of fuel to engine, Diesels sometimes have a manual priming pump to over come this problem, the cars diesel pump will not easily self prime., although some GM engines are designed like this. Always fill fuel filter bowl with clean diesel when re assembling. A after market manual pump with non-return valve is often fitted as an addition to overcome this difficulty.
Personally, the valve clearance (if nobody's been messing with it) would be last on my list of suspected causes.. Knowing diesel engines like I do, my very first suspect would be a dirty fuel filter.
If you have verified it's an engine problem, not a transmission problem-by noting the same slow response when car is stationary and in park or neutral-then possible the MAF sensor. Clean it with a can of MAF sensor cleaner. If the throttle body is dirty inside, clean that with crc brand cleaner, a throttle body intake cleaner. Check or replace the air filter. If the hesitation is still there, it might be the throttle position sensor. And if still not it, scan for trouble codes and check fuel pressure. Good luck.
I would suspect you have water in the gas tank. You may need to have the system flushed. I'd definitely put a water filter inline on you fuel line from the tank.
indicates that the fuel was petrol and not diesel
best id to drain the tank , change the fuel filters and refill with the correct fuel
could be contaminated tank at the station but as most have a petrol and diesel hoses side by side it is easy to fill from the wrong hose
had the same problem.was a very dirty fuel filter after getting a dirty fill of diesel.i think the epc light came on the dash and the engine just cut out. hope this helps barry....
if it says the diesel filter, then that is what it means,a fuel filter.normal service requirement on any vehicle and can be done for small dollars at any garage
