Ive noticed kind of the same problem, I have a 2003 Audi A6 3.0 FWD, 56k miles, when the engine is cold (i live in florida so when i say cold i mean hasn't been driven for at least 5 hours) I go to start the car and it acts like it doesn't want to start, it keeps rolling over as if it has no fuel, then it will catch, stutter for a few seconds, acts like its going to die and then and then it will be fine and idle's normal. I notice it more when it is raining out, but its hit and miss. It happens more when i park the car outside, and I rarely have the problem when i start the car in my garage. i took it to Audi and they had no idea, they were un able to reproduce the problem and no codes came up. It is becomeing more and more of a problem! 3 times a week, when im leaving work or going home for lunch, or if it has been raining.. its really wierd..what is wrong with my car? I haven't noticed any problems driving.. just starting

If it is near the tire it is brake fluid. The brake fluid reservoir is back by the firewall driver side of engine compartment. Your car uses DOT 4 brake fluid.
it is VERY unlikely that a seven year old car would need that much done to it, unless it had 200,000 or more miles on it. New oil should be the color of honey, not dark brown. That's the easy check.
Ive got a 1998 A6 2.8 Quattro
Ive changed the gearbox and the vehicle dont start now.
the engine swings from the starter but when using the key it turns once and nothing happens thereafter the key is locked in on position where im getting ignition lights
It could be that the thermostat is stuck in the open position thus providing maximum coolant flow through the engine when the engine is still cold, ie from a cold start. (The thermo should close when the engine is stopped and cold and it opens up once the coolant temp increases and the engine has been running for a few minutes.) Once the engine is hot maximum coolant flow between engine and radiator is normal.
Do you also find that your heater takes a while to provide warm air to the cabin in winter when you notice this condition?
If you do not know when the thermostat was last changed then I would suggest you change it. ( If it malfunctions and sticks in the closed position you will really have a problem). The radiator/engine coolant could no doubt do with a flush and change in any event as it should be done every 2 years. If you don't know when it was last done - do it. Cooling systems tend to be a neglected part of essential vehicle maintenance.
try running lighter weight oil in the winter time, if the oil is too cold the starter will have to work extra hard to turn the engine over and sometimes this will cause fuel problems because the injectors are timed with the engine.
I would check to see if the catalyic converter is clogged. Drop the tail pipe at the manifold. Start and drive it for a block you will be able to tell real quick. It should run smooth and have good power. It will just be noisy. Or you could have coil problems.
most likely is condensation in the oil because if you changed your oil and your head was bad you would see it in the oil going into the container. i would not be to concerned .with problem
oil type is either 5W-30W or 10W-30W depending how cold your climate is, as far as having the car properly taken care of, the Audi dealer is the best option, they have all the proper tools and service info needed to keep the car in top running condition.
