As the engine reporting system includes a sensor that reads the sump pressure or vacuum , getting the problem after changing rocker cover gaskets indicates that the gasket is not sealing off the system properly
the gasket can move during assembly and be out side or inside the cover edge causing the problem
also check for any harness connections that were removed to allow the job to be done

SOURCE: how to replace valve cover gasket on a 2002 stratus 3.0 liter engine

i don't know that vehicle very well... but there are usually bolts/screws that hold them in place. 4 to 6 of them per cover. sometimes the spark plug holes have giant nuts that hold the cover in place.

SOURCE: valve cover gasket leaking

When you buy the valve cover set, it will include the spark plug well "O" rings. Simply remove the valve cover and on the underside of the valve cover, you'll see the "O" rings that need replaced and you'll see exactly how the valve cover gasket itself fits.

SOURCE: replace valve cover gasket

I have the same problem on a 2003 Town & Country. The cover for the front 3 cylinders is quite straight forward, but in order to do the rear cylinders I believe you are going to have to remove the cowling below the windshield. You will need a gear puller to remover the windshield wipers first, then remove the cowling. Than should give you more room to work. It's still not going to be easy, but it sure beats paying hundreds of $$$$ in labor charges.

SOURCE: reset check engin light

White smoke from exhaust indicates burning coolant. Blue smoke from the exhaust indicates burning oil. In replacing the valve cover gasket for an oil leak, some smoke from residual oil is normal but it would be excess oil burning off on the manifold from the engine compartment, not the exhaust. Hope this helps with your question.

SOURCE: replace valve cover gaskets on subaru svx

the truth about thse engines is they are hard to work on. if the valve covers are unbolted and still ****, try getting a rectangular peice of wood and putting it on the side of the cover neer the gasget, tap on the other end with a hammmer from all angles to try to break the seal.

this is a common problem with valve covers that havent ever been removed and they heat up, and cool down so many times they practically bake onto the head

you got oil leaked down the plug holes from the valve cover you will need to buy a tube of ultra grey silicon . try this take all plugs out wash them with carb spray wash the spark plug holes out with rag twisted onto screw driver and gas ect ok when dry put a little smear of the ultra grey onto the spark plug threads near the center of the threads all the way around then screw plug into hole let it dry do all the plugs this way it should top the miss if it come back and theres more oil in the spark plug tube hole youl have to take the valve cover off and clean the gasket with gasoline or carb spray dry the gasket off then clean gasket groove on pan and dry it with rag (tee shirt) put a smear of the ultra grey silicon (get at autozone ) all the way around the gasket both sides wash the head where the gasket go's (seals)with gas or carb spray (also nail polish remover ) put valve cover on see that the gasket is in place proper befor tightening the cover bolts

Chevy Prizm or Toyota Corolla 2000 valve cover gasket problem? Right after oil change, engine check light came on & car started smoking & losing oil. I took out all 4 spark plugs: they were in very...

The valve cover gasket isn't hard to change. Oil on the plugs indicates a more serious problem. Smoke from the exhaust would be from rings, rich mixture, worn valve guides. It may be that the engine is overfull (that would show on the stick). Oil loss from a leaking gasket would smoke under the hood and leave oil on the engine and the ground.

2001 mitsubishi montero limited light on service engine soon 110000 milege burning smell from engine oil ok transmission oil ok coolant ok

look hard around your valve cover or your spark plugs holes especially #3 and #5. i found mine on 3 and 5 spark plugs. oil sometimes drip down to hot eng and smell like burn oil. possibility your valve cover that seal your spark plug hole is worn out and leak around the valve cover and straight down to hot area. replacing valve cover gasket is not easy and if you take it shop will cost you over $1000.00 because of intake manifold and a lots of hardwares to remove. shop around before you take it to the shop. if you do it your self with a friend make sure you take picture for every lines ,bolts sensor plugs and so on you remove. also may as well tune up or change your spark plugs. good luck

I just had my routine 3000 mile oil change and was informed my oil level was approximately one and one-half quarts low. There is also a faint "knocking" noise coming from the engine when I'm driving. ...

That knocking noise could be due to low oil. There could be a leak on the following places - drain plug, on the crankshaft seals, camshaft seals, valve cover gasket, engine may be burning oil (blow by) due to bad piston rings, bad, valve seals. Regularly check your engine oil level and tap off to avoid engine failure.

93 chevrolet truck bogging down on acceleration

Check intake gaskets. Pour warm soapy water on the gasket when it's running. If it bubbles like crazy, you have a leak. 2. Check timing. Shoot a timing light at the crank mark. If it jumps around a lot, your chain has jumped. #3. check cam. Remove valve covers, run the engine, and see if they are all raisng the valves the same. Put a piece of cardboard along the bottom, and fold it around a little, so it forms kind of a " half valve cover". That way you won't lose oil everywhere, and make a mess, or a fire.
