Question about 2000 Isuzu Trooper
I have a 2000 Isuzu Trooper with the 3.5L gas engine. Given that the 3.5L engines were ****, I'm wondering how hard it would be to swap it with a diesel engine once my 3.5 bites the dust. So, how hard would it be to find and import a 3.0 or a 3.1 diesel to the US, how hard would it be to swap them, or are there any other diesel engines that I could use?
It just slots in. The wiring loom will have to be altered to allow fror the addition of glow plugs and ancillaries, but no problem there, a competent mechanic can do that for you. It's a stright swap, (sorry the exhaust manifold may be a little different so you may have to buy a new manifold exhaustreplaement, Not a new manifold.) Just make sur all your gas is out of the tank and lines, change all the filters etc before you fire her up! Happy driving. There should be pleanty of trooper/GMC fronterra (same car, different badge) in the US
