Question about 1997 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

I have a 1997 buick lesabre that when it is warm begins to stutter very badly.Ging up a hill is very bad or when car is loaded up the problem is worse. The rpm guage goes up and back when the engine does this.I have changed the fuel filter, oxy sensor had the computer flashed, injectors cleaned,I took to a transmission expert and he witnessed the problem on a test drive but said the tranny was ok.He put a scope on and while the car was doing this lunging effect the scope detected no misses of any kind.I tried changing the coils also to no avail.Great car if not for this very annoying issue can anyone help?

You need a tune up. Spark plugs; Spark plug wires; fuel filter (but you already replaced this) and air filter all need to be replaced. This should fix the problem.

GoingUphill. misses under load runs fine otherwise

Check to make sure the EGR valve is not opening prematurely. It is is the controller could be bad or the valve could be gummed up with carbon. Also check the ignition wires (spark plug wires) to see if they need replacing, they may be "leaking" under a load.
