Question about 2005 Cadillac STS
Apparently the dealer says my 2005 Caddy STS computer wiring harness has burned up and should be replaced. They are willing to offer this service in exchange for my offspring, i.e. lots of money.
Additionally the part will not be available for 3 months, which I think is a little too long to put off.
Having done various car repairs in the past, and installed audio equipment in numerous cars I wonder if this is something I may be able to do on my own.
Any suggestions to as to why this meltdown occurred?
Just a suggestion, but I would be tempted to join (for free) at this site: (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/ )
just to see if possibility of others with same occurrence & if they had an assistance from factory on this issue, or will know of any recalls or technical service bulletins pertaining to same issue. I can't believe if you contacted owner relations number in owners manual, they wouldn't have some type of input, but get all info you can before you make the call to them.
