Silly question but... Did you top up the selespeed oil afterwards? The selespeed oil and gear box oil both need to "breathe" so make sure that leak wasn't caused because the "snorkel" (on the top of the cap) isn't blocked.

SOURCE: VDC system failure on 156 selespeed

I have the same problem with my 156 2.4 JTD 2002...two most common reasons are:
-steering angle sensor ( "U shaped, black thing" on your steering column/wheel_217.jpg has a lose connection or needs to be changed )
-old battery ( sounds stupid but new battery solved the problem in many cases)...it could also be an alternator problem
I've checked my car with FiatECUScan and it says...see pictures below..._216.jpg
Good luck!

I have a 2006 Buick Rendezvous. The radiator coolant has leaked into the Transmission. How can I fix this outside of replacing the transmission?

You have a real problem on your hands. Not only did coolant get into the transmission, transmission fluid most likely got into your coolant as well. The trans fluid will eat the lining of all the rubber cooling hoses and cause them to soften and eventually fail, and will cause a black, gunky color in the coolant. You will need to:
1. Replace the radiator since the trans cooler inside has broken.
2. Replace all coolant hoses and flush the entire cooling system.
3. Have the transmission rebuilt or replaced to ensure all coolant traces have been removed.

There is no easy fix for this....I had to do it myself.

Fiat stilo abarth 2.4 semi-automatic gearbox what type of clutch fluid is used

The clutch in the Fiat stilo abarth selespeed uses the same fluid as the braking system. Just find the container in the engine bay with the braking fluid. And top up with ''DOT 4 Brake & Clutch Fluid'' Note it's not the oild for the Gearbox or selespeed. You should never touch the container that holds the fluid for the Selespeed.

Trasmission leaking and slipping. When you put fluid in its all on the ground.only slips when low on fluid. Could it be the seal?

Depending on the location of the leak from under the van. With the van setting on level ground have someone to fill the transmission with fluid( do not overfill) look under van to see if the fluid is coming from the front or rear or middle of transmission. If you cannot look under the van then use a large piece of cardboard and slide it under the van before you try to fill it to locate the leak. leak could be front or rear seals leaking or the pan gasket leaking. hope this will help you.

Could be anything. The best and safest thing to do is to take the Vehicle to an ASE certified Transmission Repair Shop. They will trace where the leak is comming from and let you know what the repairs will be .

Selespeed failure code

First try to replace the gearbox oil and do transmission flush (cheapest solution). This is how to do it

If problem persists you need to have the gearbox fixed/replaced
hope that helps
Good Luck
