Question about 2000 Ford Taurus

Open Question

The security system on my Ford Taurus 2000 model beeps only once

When I lock the car it should beep twice, but it does only once and the light inside the car remains on. It goes off after a long time and perhaps the second beep too sounds at that time.
Also, when I unlock the car the light inside the car does not go off automatically and remains on all the time. I have tried resetting the alarm system by taking off the battery terminal and putting it back , but that has not worked. What could be a solution to the problem ?

SOURCE: 2001 Boxster Alarm Beeps Twice

If the car beeps twice when you unlock the doors, it means there is a fault in the car alarm system. Usually when this happens the red LED lights on the "door lock" button on the top r h side of the dash. Also on mine, when you try to open the passenger door the window does not drop the small amount as usual, but that may be part of my alarm problem.

SOURCE: horn beeps as if in an alarm mode

It is shut down in an alarm. The owners manual says to unlock the passenger door to turn off the alarm and allow the engine to start. I had the same problem when I bought a 1996 Jetta whith a dead battery.

Loud Beeping noise when the car is started

If you are using the smart key and you do not have it in the ignition, it will send a signal thru the car speakers to let you know that the keys are not in the ignition(beep, beep, beep, beep), and that they are to far from the sensor. Next time you are driving and the keys are in your pocket, pull them out and wave them around the speedometer. It will notice keys in car and the beeping will go away.
