Question about 1999 Land Rover Discovery
I think my starter is bad. Electrics work, but won't turn over. Not even a clicking sound. Pulled the battery, tested 100%. So I think the starter or starter solenoid is out.
How difficult is it to remove starter and have bench tested? If it is the solenoid, can just that be replaced or are the units married?
Make sure the small wire on the solenoid has a good contact. If it does, check that there is +power to there when trying to start. If there is power and a good contact, and the starter still won't crank, try shorting the two bolt terminals on the solenoid (carefull, it will spark). If the starter cranks then it's okay, suspect solenoid. If the solenoid is okay you should hear it kicking in.
