2000 3.0 ford 4x4 ranger front end is binding up when driving forward and unbinds in it a cv axle or vacuum hub assembly.

4 X 4 vehicles are only meant to be in 4 wheel drive on loose surfaces
on hard surfaces where the tires are not permitted to slip there is a torque wing up in the transmission , drive shafts and diffs
this results in hard gear shifting, noisy drive lines and early failures in drive shaft, diffs and transmissions
if you go far enough in reverse it will start to bind up again

Feels like front diff is binding

Is it possible that when you replaced the differential you bumped the shifter, causing it to not completly shift into gear? The phrasing of your question is difficult to understand, but good luck.

My 2002 chevy silverado locks up and won't move in 4 wheel drive

most if all problems with the chevy 4x4 at the beginning of problems are the electronics the switches they put crap in the truck and wonder why so many problems to anyone whom sees a problem at the start should first and i mean first clean all the contacts on 4x4 switches the two on the dash and then one on transfer case the one inside the dash sits where people sit drinks like coffee then it runs down dash and onto the switch inside dash you need to take it out clean it good i have fixed more 4x4 problems with doing this first you will not hear this from the dealerships they will tell you you need to replace them when all it is that they need a good cleaning i also take the switch on dash apart and clean contacts then the lights work please try contact cleaner first and more times over it will fix your problems

Loud clunk noise front front end when put into 4wheel drive. Also feels like binding when turning?

You have a bad universal joint. you have to take the spindle off to replace this. once the spindle is off you can pull the shaft out. the universal has to be pressed out and back in. As far as the binding, that is normal in close tolerance turns. you get it alittle more with bad joints.

I have a 95 Grand Cherokee Larado.I have a binding noise coming from the front end. Just replaced, bearings and U Joints in front, and seals and bearings in back.

sounds like the drive shafts may not be right back properly or maybe a u joint not seated in straight
jack the truck up and spin whel by hand with 4 wheel locked and look for the binding noise

How do you adjust the steering box

There is an adjustmen screw on the opposite end of the pitman shaft. If the box is behind the frame There should be an access hole. Raise the veficle off the ground, front wheelsno load. Loosen the adjustment screw and and turn it to the right holding the lock nut.. Move steering wheel back and forth to help take your adjustment. When you feel you have taken up all the slack, turn your steering wheel from one extreme to the other, fulll left and right while feeling for any binding or sluggishness. If you are adjust too tigh, the steering may bind or not return on or after a turn. Ok, O play in pitman shaft. Back adjuster off 1/4 to half turn and lock down with nut. Cycle steering again, full L & R.. You should be set Now lower the front end, cycle steering again and make sure it is smooth and consistant. Check all other steering componants for excessive wear and play before adjusting the box. Repair other defects found. Be cautious in turns until you are absolutely sure the steering will return on its ow. Tets, test, test !!!! Ned

My front end seems to bind up and make loud grinding noise with clicking. It then goes back to normal. What could this be?

check your c/v joints on the ends of the front drive axles. a split or torn boot indicates that the joint inside has become contaminated with road dirt and has failed.

4 wheel drive is binding in 2002 trailblazer

the trailblazers are designed to shift from 2 wheel to AWD on the fly. BUT NOT TO EITHER OF THE 4 WHEEL OPTIONS. I'd suggest you get it to a mechanic to evaluate the damages.

There are a couple of causes, and the solutions in order of cost are to first change the gear oil in the front and rear differentials and drive a few miles, then the transmission filter and fluid. finally consider "the infamous torque bind" as detailed at, but a '91 is very likely to have been resolved by changing the differential fluid.
