Try changing the angel of how you pump your gas. the car manufactures do that so people cant steal your gas...

even when changing the angle i have this same problem. i've even turned the pump upside down to see if that helps, and nothing. the best thing i have found is to turn the pump gun 90 degrees so the handle of the pump is towards the rear of the car and simultaneously push the pump spout further in, but even then it still set off the sensor on the pump after a short spurt.

If you have spark problem most likely is fuel. I would replace fuel filter. Check for fuel at engine before and after injector. Could be a blocked injector. The contaminated gas probably messed up the fuel injector

Engine light on my 2000 Chevy Malibu and it doesn't seem to be getting enough gas. Also seem to be having trouble with it starting but its turning over

first thing to do is to check your fuel pump relay under the hood in the fuse block. the underside of the cover should have a diagram of which relay it it although i believe it is number 16 or 18. if its not the relay it could be something as simple as a clogged fuel filter or faulty fuel sending unit to something more major such as a bad fuel pump. try the relay and go from there. hope this helps

Why is it that there is a strong smell of gasoline when the engine runs

  • First thing I would do is get a flashlight and look around the injectors real well for wet spots.
  • Look at the fuel lines under the hood for a leak.
  • Look at the fuel tank and the fill spout for the fuel tank.
  • Check the fuel lines from the pump all the way to the fuel injectors as well.

  • A good majority of the time, if you smell heavy gas when in the car, especially when driving, you have a cracked injector or a seal on an injector has failed. You want to look real good at the base of the injector because it may not be a big leak and gas evaporates fast so the leak may not be real big. You can also pull the fuel rail and inspect each injector.

Ran out of gas and now it wont start is there something specific i should do

put enough gas like five gallons and start turning over till it starts not good pump when you run out of gas when fuel tank is low fuel pump works harder so if it starts great if it doesn't you might need a fuel pump e3mail back if that happens good luck
