The noise your hearing is your EBCM(electronic brake control module) if your ABS light is staying on you need to hookup a scan tool that supports your ABS, such as a GM tech 2 and pull the Diagnostic trouble codes. if the code resets after clearing it. you will have to replace your EBCM. this is located on the driver's side inner frame rail under the driver's floorboard. All of this information is per Mitchell on demand. This is the standard diagnostic test that would be done at any reputable service center. unfortuantely their are no shortcuts to this "flowchart". So I would highly recommend following this procedure. I hope I was able to help you out. If you have anymore questions please post them and I will respond. Thank-you.

Why is my Lincoln LS V8 2002 has the ABS and Traction Control light on?

The traction control works off the ABS system You will need a scan tool capable of reading ABS codes before you can further diagnose the problem If you are able to retrive the abs codes searrch on the internet for the trouble code Many times it is a wheel sensor or bad connection on the sensors .

01 Suburban with abs system. abs light came on

A relay controls the ABS motor. You can trace the wires running to it. The next time you shut the engine off unplug the relay. If that shuts it off get a new relay for the old one will not open its circuit to shut off the motor to the ABS motor

2002 Suburban 1500 - ABS Light On

No doubt the control module is out, and it continue to operate when the ignition key is off due to a circuit fault. You can disable it easily by pulling the 60 amp fuse in the under hood fuse box (it is listed on the panel as ABS). Note that this disables the ABS braking feature and traction control, so be very careful when driving. The part can be purchased on the GM global parts site, about $600-$700 for the module. This will be the second time this has gone out for me and GM is not sympathetic, rather "pathetic", for a part to fail so often.

2002 GJCL, ABS light came on today and stays on. Alsp smell gas.

If the ABS lights stays on it means the computer has detected a problem in the anti lock brake system and has shut it off until it is repaired. You still have your regular brakes, just not the ABS parts. Could the smell be exhaust gas?

Suburban 1999 abs light on dash on and doesn't work the a/c fan

If it is happening when you change the AC and Defroster Modes as Stated above, You have a Wire inside the Dash in this Location that has Shorted and is Grounding itselt to the Housing for the HVAC Controls. This could cause a fire. I would pull the HVAC Unit and try and Locate the Faulty wire Behind it.

2002 Suburban ABS System Brake Light

I have had this same problem on two difference vehicles both of which are suburbans.

The solution is simple.
Remove the engine cover.
Locate a small ground wire that is bolted to the top rear of the engine block on the passenger side.
Remove the bolt, clean surfaces and replace.

This should solve your problem.

I know it seems too easy but it works.
