YOU NEED A 1/2 INCH BREAK BAR WITH A SOCKET PLACED ON THE TENSIONER PULLEY BOLT.ROTATE THE TENSIONER TO RELIEVE BELT TENSION.THEN REMOVE THE BELT.TO GET TENSIONER OFF JUST REMOVE ITS MOUNTING BOLTS.

If it is a chevy like in the pictures, is not hard, you need the remove the belt with a 15' range and remove the pulley, , if the bearing inside the pulley is not good will cause the pulley to lock and damaging the belt, you can buy those pulleys in any auto -part story , they are not expensive

The tensioner is on a pivot it has a square 3/8" hole or a square boss on it for a wrench if you push or pull it will remove the tension to remove the belt. Then turn each pully to see the bad one. Make sure you draw a pic of the belt routing so you can replace in th right order. Then mark on you pic which one it is and the parts store can use it to tell what pully you will need.

How to install belt

There should be a serpentine belt routing diagram under the hood somewhere. If not, all I can tell you is that serpentine belts wrap around 3/4 of the diameter of each pulley; and the ribbed pulleys contact the inside ribbed part of the belt and smooth pulleys wrap around the outside non-ribbed part of the belt. Also it cannot be installed wrong because it's length will be too long or too short if not wrapped correctly. Hope this helps!

Fan belt snapped on my renault express diesel changed that but now it now it turns over but wont fire up

check the belt is on correctly if it is it will be tight and around all pulleys,make sure around fuel pump pulley. Also ask yourself why belt snapped in first place was it old/cracked and due to break or did a pulley sieze and cause belt to squeel and burn then snap.

Replacing a serpentine belt

Don't have a chart, video, or diagram available at the moment. Can offer you generic advice.

1.Somewhere in the middle of that serpentine belt, that is wrapped around all those pulleys, is an Idler tensioner Pulley. All this pulley does, is put tension on that serpentine belt. Usually located somewhere in the middle.

The Idler tensioner Pulley will be on a bracket. It will be on the end of the bracket. The bracket usually has a 1/2 inch square hole in it. This is used for a tool, that resembles a 1/2 inch breaker bar.
-> I, use a 1/2 inch breaker bar.
The 1/2 inch breaker bar is inserted into this square hole, and the bracket is pulled to one side.
This pulls the tensioner pulley away from the serpentine belt, allowing the belt to have slack, and then the belt is slipped off of one of those pulleys. Release the pressure slowly, remove the tool. Then the serpentine belt is removed all the way.

(The Idler tensioner pulley bracket, can only be moved in one direction, to take pressure off of the serpentine belt. The direction opposite, of it putting pressure on the serpentine belt.

The spring used to put pressure is Very strong. This is also an area, where you can easily slip, cutting your knuckles, or fingers, or hand, on sharp objects. Use caution, you may want to wear a glove, or gloves!)

Then the new serpentine belt is wound around the pulleys in the correct pattern, the Idler Tensioner Pulley is once again pulled to the side, and the last of the serpentine belt is slid into place. Then you slowly release the tensioner pulley, and it puts pressure on the serpentine belt once more.

Make sure the serpentine belt is in the grooves of the pulleys, and is wound around in the correct pattern.

On the car hood inside, or on the radiator support, or perhaps on the inner fender well, or in the Owners Manual, it should show the correct pattern for installing the serpentine belt.
