Question about 1983 Nissan Sentra
Whenever i try to start my car,I cant turn the key to unlock the steering wheel. After much wheel wrestling it may finally unlock but I never had this problem before
I would chalk that up to old age and wear and tear. I expect that when you take the steering column apart you will find a lot of play in the linkage between the ignition and the lock. These will probably be dealer only items to replace unless you can find them in a scrap yard. It will probably be easiest just to remove the lock mechanism and leave it that way. Just make sure that everything else works before you put the column back together. You may also be able to shim out the play with some time and patience if you can't find parts. Copper and brass work the best. Hope this helps.
