Check engine light came on and won't go off on my 2003 Impala. I had the oil and air filter changed and checked the gas cap as recommended but it is still on. What next?

Take the car to an autoparts store and have them scan the computer for any faults stored there. Most parts stores will do the scan for free. The check engine light indicates that the computer has detected a fault in one of the car's systems. Getting the codes will narrow down any problem/potential problem that the computer has identified. If there are no fault codes, they can reset the check engine light so it won't drive you crazy. lol Sure hope this helped and best wishes.

Check engine light came on ,we checked oil, water, put new air filter on light is still on.

The check engine light can be anything from a faulty o2 sensor to a evap problem. i would recommend taking it to auto zone and havinf it scanned for free. if it is a small evap leak, you may not have gotten the gas cap tightened down the last time you fueled your car. The light wioll not go out until it is reset. Once you get it scanned you will know more.

2003 chevy impala makes clicking noise/smoking thru exhaust

the clicking noise could be eiter a valve or piston. the smoke out of the exhaust means different things depending on the color and how much smoke. Check your air filter and make sure oil is not backing up into it. Also, it may be a good ideal to go ahead and change the oil even though you arent at 3000 miles, unless you just changed it. Change the PCV valve also, if itis clogged it will give you problems. Has the check engine light come on?

Change oil, oil filter & air filter for 2000 Saturn LW

That car should use 5W30 oil, check on the filler cap, or owners manual. If you are in freezing weather, use a synthetic oil. The Change oil light is reset by turning the key on, then depressing the gas pedal to the floor 3 times. The Check Engine light is another subject and a repair shop will need to diagnose and recommend repairs. If it has a 3.0 V6 its not that user friendly. the Cadillac Catera uses that engine.

Oil light stays on

You need to put the key on and push the gas pedal to the floor three times within five second to reset the oil life light. Some g.m.'s have a reset buttom in the fuse panel that needs to be pushed first and some don't.Check the owners manual under change oil for your specific year car.

Loosing power

Wow, I just went through the same problem and guess what it was a clogged converter and a bad oxyegen sensor. The garaged fixed it up for me by putting an eco converter on it and a new O2 sensor. I have a 2003 Chevy Impala,V6 3.8 engine. Good Luck!!!!

Check engine light steady on. Replaced fuel filler cap. Problem still there. Disconnect battery. Light goes out but back in an hour or so.

Have had this problem more than once.

1. When you fill up with gas make sure you click the gas cap at least three times according to the manual.

2. When you have your oil changed make sure they push the reset button. Just tell them and they will know what you mean. If they dont, it can cause the check engine light to stay on.

3. Check your oil that can cause it, if the oil is low.

See if any of these work, they have for me in the past.

Good Luck!

If i'm not mistaken the light beside the battery sign is the check engine light. this lights up if anything under the hood is not functioning the way it should. Unfortunately i cannot be more specific on this. It just means that you could be staring at a major repair, or your gas cap could be too loose (no kidding).

Well as you've mention your oil is dropping at a very fast rate then its a good place to start checking. You can check if your oil seals are ok and might as well check all the filters...oil filters, fule filters air filters.

Hope i have answered your question. Goodluck!
