Question about 1996 Oldsmobile Aurora
Who told you the heater core needs repalacing, is it leaking you don't say. If it is not leaking you only need to flush it through with an off the shelf radiator cleaner. This will clean out the heater core. Check the two hoses that go through the bulkhead, if one is cold and the other is hot, yes, the core is blocked, but in the UK we have an additive called RAD FLUSH which will clear it. It may take two goes, but it will clear. To ensure the job is complete, take the hot hose off at the engine, and the cold pipe at the engine, ,when it is cold, attatch a hose pipe, and flush through with pressure, the resulting gunk will come out.
