Question about 2002 Mazda MPV

Ignition key does not go past assy. and does not come out. Once I disconnect battery, it does come out. In addition, the sliding doors do not work. By chance are they on the same electrical circuit (like a home breaker switch?)

Yes the electric doors are on the accessory circuit. sounds like you need some spray lubrication down into the lock cylinder. Unless the key is bent

Insert key into and remove it from ignition more than six times in 10 seconds. When the hazards lights will flash twice insert key into ignition and turn to ACC position.
Then push any button on key fob once, the hazard lights will flash twice. Then open drivers door to END.
Should be all working again.

How do I reset the passlock code for a 98

not sure if this is what you mean but I have 2 ways.... Make sure the key fob you purchase looks like the one you originally had, and is a GM key fob. Once you have it, open the fob, pop out the rubber insert, pull out the chip, and carefully slide the battery completely out. (If the batteries dead replace it now) Now reassemble the same way you just took it apart, walk out to your car, and hold both the lock and un-lock at the same time for 'bout 7 seconds. Your car should now be accessable with the key... That will only work if the remote was already "married" to the car using the GM ODBD2 scan tool or (for your car).... OR the following procedure: 1996-1998 Bonneville
ALL TRANSMITTERS MUST BE PRESENT WHEN PROGRAMMING NEW REMOTES!
1) Turn OFF ignition switch
2) Use a 3 amp fused jumper wire and connecte the terminal 8 (blk/wt) and terminal 4 (blk) wires at the data link connector. The data link connector is located on the drivers side bottom of dash panel 3) Close all the doors 4) Turn ON the ignition switch. The locks will cycle to LOCK 5) Press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK on one of the transmitters for 30 seconds. 6) After a 30 second delay the doors will LOCK and UNLOCK. DO NOT TURN OFF THE IGNITION! 7) Repeat step 5 for each additional transmitter 8) Disconnect jumper wire from data link connector. Then turn ignition off and verify functions. eBay is a good source for a replacement transmitter, but understand that they are NOT interchangeable. You must use the ONE that is meant for your car.

Hey Anon, Is this a total electronic key,,(push button start)..if so, its an electrical issue. If its a standard key urn ignition. try some DRY graphite on the key.. it will lubricate the switch without the mess of liquids... put the key in and out several times, put some more dry graphite on the key and repeat.. give this some time to work,, if this does not improve the switch.. its time for a new switch assy,

We need to replace the ignition lock on a 2004 Grand Am.

Hello,

The ignition switch is immediately behind and attached to the ignition lock cylinder. The ignition lock cylinder is where you place the key to start your vehicle. If you are having problems with your vehicle not starting and or turning the key, more than likely you need to replace the ignition lock cylinder. It is common for these to go bad in GM vehicles. To replace the ignition switch of Your car please get these instruments (Flat head screwdriver, Mechanic's gloves, Socket wrench with adapters, Lint-free cloth)and carefully follow the steps below:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the terminal of your Pontiac Grand Am's battery. This will ensure that you avoid the potential of electrocution as well as accidental inflation of the air bag. After disconnecting the battery, wait 15 minutes before performing any work on the car.
  2. Remove the three flat head screws from the steering column cover to access the ignition switch assembly. If the covers and interior parts of the steering column are dirty or dusty, try cleaning them with a damp, lint-free cloth.
  3. Depress the silver button on the column underneath the ignition switch if your key is still stuck in the lock cylinder. You will need to turn the key to the "Off" position and remove it in order to remove the rest of the ignition switch assembly.
  4. Remove the two connection bolts holding the ignition switch assembly into place. Disconnect the electrical connection tab leading to the ignition switch as well as the tab that sits behind the ignition switch once you slide it out from the steering column console.
  5. Clip the electrical connection tab to the new ignition switch for your 2004 Pontiac Grand Am and slide the ignition switch into place. You will need to have the new key in the ignition switch as you slide it into place and turned to the "Off" position. Once it matches the exact position of the previous ignition switch, rotate the key to the "On" position, and you should hear a click from a tab that extends from the bottom of the ignition switch and connects with the ignition switch housing on the steering column. Reconnect the electrical connection tab leading to the ignition switch.
  6. Reconnect the negative battery terminal and turn your car on to make sure that you have made all of the connections correctly between the steering column and the new ignition switch. Reinstall the steering column panel coverings.
Hope this helps. Thank You for using FixYa!!!

I am having trouble with the sliding doors of our 2005 Odyssey. We have owned it since new and have not had any issues with it up to now. It had a recent regular maintenance at the local Honda dealership...

If the battery had been disconnected the doors must be re-homed before they can work properly. The power sliding door control unit must relearn the doors home position so it can use the revolution sensor to keep track of the doors position when moving. To re-home the doors do this: erase the sliding door DTC's by removing No. 7 fuse from the under-dash fuse box then reinstall it. Turn off the main switch for the doors. Make sure the key is in lock (0). Fully close the sliding doors manually. Then turn the ignition switch on (II). then turn the main switch on. Test the power sliding door operation. See if this works. Also there is a problem with moisture freezing on the door position switches which causes the doors to malfunction. -hope this helps. let me know how it goes.

Set the keyless entry

TS06 DEC 05 Keyless Entry - Transmitter(s) Inoperative

There was a recall in DEC. 05 for this particular vehicles remote transmitter system....though im not sure if they would do service free of charge now...

Moving along...if you have no working transmitter, you have to do the following to get it working again:

* Ensure vehicle audio PIN number is known or audio PIN security system is deactivated prior to battery disconnection.
* Ensure a door is open
* Disconnect the negative battery cable, wait minimum 5 seconds then reconnect
* Within 20 seconds of reconnecting the battery cable, insert the keyin ignition then cycle the ignition key from the "ACC" position to the"ON" position 20 times, leaving the key in the "OFF" position after thetwentieth turn.
* the vehicle's indicators will flash 20 times to indicate successfulentry. NOTE: Should the indicators fail to flash, wait 5 seconds thenquickly turn the ignition switch from the "ACC" to "ON" position 10times, leave the ignition "OFF" after the 10th turn and wait 15 secondsthen recycle the ignition switch 20 times.
* the vehicle's indicators will flash 20 times to indicate successful entry.
* within 10 seconds of the indicators having ceased flashing, press the button once on each transmitter.
* turn the ignition key to the "ON" position to lock in and exit from the programming mode.

And if you have even 1 transmitter that does work, its not nearly as difficult:

* ensure a door is open
* remove key from ignition
* lock the doors using the transmitter
* unlock the doors using the transmitter

Within 20 seconds of unlocking, insert key in ignition, turn theignition key from the "ACC" position to the "ON" position 20 times, leaving the key in the "OFF" position after the twentieth turn.

The vehicle's indicators will flash 20 times to indicate successful entry.

Within 10 seconds of the indicators having ceased flashing, press thebutton once on each transmitter. Once finished, turn the ignition keyto the "ON" position to lock in and exit from the programming mode.

Hope this helped,
Jem
