Question about 2008 Dodge Avenger
I have a VW Jetta 1998 manual. I had it stored (out in the elements) for about 6 weeks. The other day I went to get the car and it started beautifully but I couldn't get in reverse. Switching gears was very tough as moving the gear stick was nearly impossible. In the beginning I thought that perhaps if I drive it around a bit it would loosen up, so I drove it on the third gear (with difficulty managed to get it on the other gears too except in reverse), I think, for about 5-6 miles but the gearbox did not get any better, so I had to leave the car at that spot where I had it parked for 6 weeks. Does anybody know what could the problem be? Like I said, I drove it myself about 6 weeks ago, and it drove fine, had it parked, and when I went to pick it up this problem occurred, meaning it happened from sitting in one spot, I suppose?
Sounds like the cables have rusted up a bit with the weather, try oiling then with a proper oil can and not that wd40 fish oil stuff .
