Have a 2009 dodge avenger and when its running makes a kinda loud howling noise.does anyone kno what this could be???

if it is in the engine bay it could be the bearings in the water pump, alternator, starter stuck in ,idler bearing. If it is from the diff and occurs when you are driving then it will be a pinion bearing

I have a very loud humming/howling noise under my feet when driving. I do no that I need a cv boot. Can that cause this loud noise?

A humming or howling can be cause by a dry, worn out wheel bearing. Also tires that aren't worn evenly across the contact surface of the tire will cause a wheel bearing like noise.

I have a dodge ram 1500 4x4 quadcab the rear end is howling and making noises when i am on and off the throttle

The problem is almost always caused by the clips that hold the clutch disc in place on the po-si rear-ends.The clip will come lose and catch between the carrier clamp and cause metal parts to be deposited in the housing causing the front and rear pinion bearing to wear. Howling while accelerating is the rear pinion bearing. Howling while decelerating is the front pinion bearing. Sometimes you can get by with just replacing the clips and pinion bearings. Clips can be ordered out of California. For around $70.00 .The dealer will want to sell the entire assembly. Which does not include the pinion and bearings. The longer you go the more damage that will be done. If you can't do this yourself. No one is going to repair just part of the assembly and warranty.

Front end noise - Basically really loud "howl" when driving

Try jacking your vehicle up and turning the tires. listen for any odd noise like a grinding sound, wheels hubs have been known to make a grinding noise when they go bad.

Transmission or rearend

IF its whining noise then first check the transmission fluid in the rear axle if its 4X4 truck ,if its not 4X4 then check the brakes or the wheel is making contact to any metal part ....

Good luck....

97 dakota loud noise from tires while driving

I'd say get the alignment done first, and hope you have'nt ruined the tires already. Alignment problems can also wear out bearings prematurely. Start with a rotation of the tires & alignment.

You must replace wheel bearings in pairs to avoid loading the old bearing and, in time ruining your new bearing hub it is possible that you have already damaged the new hub
