Question about 2003 Nissan Altima

1 Answer

My 2003 Nissan Altima won't start sometimes. It has happened twice in the same day. I turned the car off at least two (2) hours ago and is still warm in the lower left and right corners (near the headlights).

Hi cherokeesprin,

thanks for using fixya.

there are many possibilities as to why this happens.

Could be a bad crank sensor. What does the C.E.L say?
Could be a weak battery that the alternator does not have enough power.
Could be a bad spark plug to be the simplest.

above all, it is a simple part that can be replaced or repaired.

here is a good sicussion on having this issue address.

http://www.myhonestmechanic.com/articles/2006-Nissan-Altima-Wont-Start.shtml

usually if it is the battery, it comes back after 4 months at least, if it does, then a solenoid or a vac hose can be causing this, then a car dealership will be your best optin.

hope this helps,

regards,

voodoo

My 93 Altima will not start. I did the self diagnostic and got code 55?? It started a few weeks ago ran great for the weekend, got it to work and would not crank to go home.

Josh, Code 55 for your Altima simply means no faults were found/no malfunction. Do you mean car would not crank(engine not turning over) or did you mean engine will crank, but not start. I will post troubleshooting links to both conditions below. If not comfortable, have a good Technician look at it, diagnose and estimate repair.

I have an 03 nissan altima engine makes loud clicking noise

1st check the the oil level and the vehicle's oil type.(owners manuel) 5w30-10w30
10w 30 is a thicker oil and could possibly be causing this.(Moves more freely through the engine heats the oil)
