Thank you very much, I will try this. This sounds like this will fix my problem.
I will keep my fingers crossed and hope this works and it is not the gaskets.

Both of the other answers are possibilities, just check both fluid levels. if tranny oil is low but you see no smoke at all under the hood while it is running and you are looking at the motor, it could also be that you have some piston rings not sealing. it will usually result in low oil pressure also.

It could be a bad transmission modulator if its an automaticThe modulator is on the trans and has a vacuum hose attached to it. If it goes bad (the vacuum diaphram) it allows trans trans fluid/oil to be sucked up into the engine and burned. Easy fix, pull vacuum line off and if trans fluid is present. r&r the modulator.

If it is the camaro in the pick , they usually leak by the valve cover gaskets, right to the manifolds , that way the smoke and you don;t find the leak because it burns the oil

This is definetly something else -- It is probably the valve guide seals. This is a common problem in Chevy v8 and v6s.

Dodge ram engine smokes when stated and skips

What color smoke? Black is emissions related, blue/black your burning oil and white your burning anti-freeze. With the "skip" your REF to, you probably have a bad spark plug, wire, or bad cylinder and burning some oil or coolant. CK plugs , wires & do a compression test. Pressure test Radiator for head gasket leak.

Smokes from under hood

First you have to identify the source of the leak. Check the valve cover gaskets if leaking excessively they can leak on to the exhaust where the oil would burn and cause it to smoke and smell. It can also coat the O2 sensor and cause the check engine light to come on.

didn t say what color smoke --if you start up on cold or damp days and get a small white or steam looking discharge from tail pipe than your burning out/off the moisture that has accumulated in the exhaust system when all moisture gone smoke gone ---white alot- billowy-and doesnt stop burning coolant -water/anti-freeze-leak in coolant or the famous blown head gasket ----black smoke and not a diesel carbon build up and or need tuneup---blue smoke burning oil something in engine is damaged and allowing oil into cylinder and is being burnt

The car smells like it is burning oil and sometimes smokes what could it be?

Might be a gasket leak that drips into or on the exhaust manifolds or pipes.

1995 dodge stratus smells like something burning, can't find any leaks. Smoke at back of motor. Temp gauge goes half way when I smell it. It never runs hot. What can this be???

sounds like oil leaking on the exhaust, this can be engine oil or power steering fluid, have the car put up in the air and checked, this can cause a fire if not repaired.

Oil smell in my vw

Sounds like valve cover gaskets need to be changed - they're a common failure on the 30v engine. Fortunately, they're also relatively inexpensive ($25 per cylinder bank - you need two - from www.ecstuning.com). They're also easy to change. They'd easily explain your oil smell - oil leaks onto hot valve covers and burns. Also, the misfire could be (not a guarantee, but it's possible) a result of valve cover gaskets as well - there's the main gasket which seals around the edge of the valve cover, and a second gasket shaped like three rings. This trims and seals the openings around each of the spark plugs, where the plugs are inserted through the valve covers. If you're leaking there, you can drown the top end of the plug in oil. If that gets into the spark wire boot, it can cause a misfire.
