It sounds like the lock tumbler is going bad. If you have to jiggle the key to get it out, most likely it is the tumbler! First suggestion is to buy some grafite powder from a local auto parts store and coat the key. sometime it will lubricate the tumbler. If that doesn't help, you might have to order a new lock tumbler for the vehicle. It is an in-depth repair but if your mechanically inclined it is not impossible. You will have to take apart the steering column and change out the tumbler and use the new key that comes with a new lock set. Unfortunately, you will have separate keys for the door locks and the ignition system. First try the grafite though, sometimes it will buy you a little time before the repair. Good luck.

Car will not start, electrical problem

Get a new ignition key switch, and ignition key. No, it won't be cheap.
With the key switch messing up, it causes problems with the alarm system.

(And you know what problems the alarm system is causing)

The key wont turn the ignition. What is causing

Could be a few things.. But try to eliminate the easiest & least costly first..
Spray some wd40 into the key hole..
Push key in & out several times & do not try to turn it yet..
Repeat a few times - then try to turn it..
Sometimes the key tumblers get dirty & sticky..

If that dose not help - it could be the ignition switch needs to be replaced..

Hope this helps !!
rate me good ;o)

My 2001 chrysler sebring has been fine, but tonight i put they key in and it wont turn, it feels like something mechanical not electrical...they key goes in and out, just wont turn....any thoughts?

When you put the key in the ignition, try giving it a few good taps right on top of they key. That usually does the trick for me. Also, always be sure the wheels are straight before turning off the ignition. For some reason, parking with the wheels turned often causes this lockup problem for me. It can be a pain, but just keep tapping and it should unlock.
