Question about Pontiac Grand Prix

1 Answer

1990 Pontiac grand prix bogs down, and wants to cut off, when stepping on the gas. I have changed the MAP sensor, 02 sensor, crank position sensor, air filter, fuel filter, fuel pump, and fuel injectors. Also spark plugs, and wires. What could it be???

Yea, I changed that also. The engine is a 3.1 T
If you start off real slow, and let it build up to speed, its fine. But when you let off the gas, and push it again, it bogs down. Or if you try to start off fast, It bogs down.

Push down on gas pedal bogging then goes

It could possibly be that there is a wore spot on your throttle position sensor (TPS). It basically is connected to the cable running to the gas pedal and tells the computer how much you're pushing down on the pedal.

If you find that it's bogging down more and more often (like when you need more power climbing hills and never really gets going), it could be that your catalytic converter is clogged, but this will eventually throw some check engine lights.

2006 pontiac grand prix is skipping while driving

It's the CPS (crankshaft position sensor) beginning to fail. The sensor is located behind the harmonic balancer on the lower RH side of the engine. If you look down the accessory belt from the alternator you"ll see a wiring harness leading behind the crankshaft pulley. An easy way to diagnose a faulty sensor is to warm up the engine and carefully tap on the sensor bracket while the engine is idling. A bad sensor will cut out and the engine will stall.

My 1993 pontiac grand prix with the 3.1 engine stalls when it idles at a stop light but it starts right back up. it has plenty of power. we changed the o2 sensor did the vaccum leaks and ths spark plugs....

The next thing to try in regards to the stalling would be to change out the Throttle Position Sensor this sensor is the usual cause of this symptom.

Code 22and 34

Code 22 is Throttle position sensor was under 0.25 volts for 4 seconds after ignition was on. Code 34 is map sensor voltage was too low for 1 second under 600rpm or over 600rpm. A tps must be set with a voltage meter or scan tool for correct operation. Check the map sensor vacuum hose for leaks.
