How to install KDC-252U in a 2000 Toyota Tacoma two-door

Check the fuse box in the engine compartment and look for the interior illumination fuse. Before you replace it you will need to unplug the radio harness and check the new unit's memory lead, the switched 12 volt lead, and the Ground wire. Somewhere one or two of these have been either connected incorrectly or the wires were pinched when the dash was reassembled.

Also check the fuse in the new unit's harness and make sure it is ok. Here are the basic power wires in the Tacoma...yellow is 12v constant, red is accessory (turns on with key),and black is ground.
If there is a blue wire, it needs 12 volts when the car is running and the radio is turned on. Check your new unit's wiring diagram for the power antenna or amplifier turn-on lead and connect that to the blue wire.
Good luck

I was installing an after market Pioneer CD Player into a 1993 Suzuki Swift. I installed it with all the right wiring and everything was working fine with the stereo. Once I turned the headlights on, that...

The adapter harness for the radio is probably not wired correctly. I'll bet you also have no tail lights. You probably wired the harness so that the illumination circuit for the factory radio is wired to the wrong terminal of the new radio, thus the problem occuring when you turned on the headlamp switch. I have seen this many times when someone is trying to wire a radio adapter harness without having access to the factory wiring harness diagrams for the vehicle...the wire colors on the adapter harnesses don't allways match the wire colors of the factory harnesses. You need to know which wire is which and wire the correct wires together regardless of what color they may be. If you wired it simply by the wire colors, it most likely is not correct.
If you are lucky, it only blew the fuse for the tail/dash lamps. It is possible that you now have some serious vehicle wiring harness damage caused by the short circuit that was created.
I would disconnect the new radio and get the car fixed first. Then you need to find out which of the wires in the factory harness is for the illumination circuit and make sure that nothing is connected to it on the adapter harness. Most aftermarket radio/stereo systems do not use this circuit at all.

When you press the brakes on my 2002 blazer everything comes on fuel pump head lights radio . how can i fix this

You have a short in your fuse box or wire harness at your fuse box. Inspect the fuse box under the hood and on the side of the dash and look for any signs of corrosion or damages. Repair or replace any damaged component found caused by corrosion or bad wire harness causing a short.
Good luck and thank you for using Fixya

Installing an aftermarket stereo, spliced the wires and have everything connected including the remote wire to the factory amp wire but still no sound.

There is no remote wire on these newer trucks....03 and up....u have to buy the harness....although i didnt....i have an 03 gmc sierra and just pulled the schematic and matched the wires. And there is no programming to do on an aftermarket stereo.....I work for GMC and we cant program aftermarket stereos......if u buy the right harness ...and its over $100 then everything should work just fine.....and this does not disarm ur alarm system either....mine still works fine....hope this helps

Can I switch my 1999 Ford f250 radio to a 2006 Radio? If so how, plug and play?

Some radios have an additional "universal" adapter that plugs into the radio harness and has the correct harness plug for your exact application. There are also "face plate" adapters available to make up for any size differences between old and new. (all cost extra but are worth it) Make sure these are available when you buy the radio. If you can't figure out how to remove dash cover, detailed instructions can be found in any inexpensive vehicle specific manual (good for other repairs as well) The only dimensional problem you may have is depth...Make sure that the radio you are buying will fit all the way into the dash without hitting an air box or other item you can't move. Wiring on all new radios are tagged so you know what they are. Tape over any unused wires to avoid shorts and static. Any fused wires should be positioned low where you can get to them if necessary for service without removing everything. When you need to tap a wire for power, use fuse block accessory port instead...otherwise you can overload an important circut, or trigger the airbag system.
Good luck
