Hood wont catch on the main latch on my 1998 montana

Hi JM, The catches do wear out and more likely the cables become frayed and do not allow the hood catch to return to the correct position for locking. Try pushing in the handle inside the car. If it work then have the cable replaced asap. If not , you may need to replace the catch mechanism Regards John

Our 2006 Pontiac Montana started displaying a light rattle in the undercarriage about a year ago when going over large bumps and washboards. Nobody could find a problem - I even had an auto mechanic doing...

I had a similar problem with my 2006 Montana. It ended up being the foam shield donut looking thing that stops the parking brake cable from hitting against the middle of the rear axle. Fixed it with foam plumbing insulation and electrical tape. Better than new. Hope this helps.

I have an 03 montana. When I try to start it, the lights and everything else works but there isn't even any starter sound, let alone any cranking. Do you know possible causes?

i would at least check the battery, make sure the battery connections are also good, could possibly be the starter in a more extreme case

Hood latch for 03 alero wont latch

is the latch on the hood ok does the safety latch work if it does then check to see if the cable is stuck or broken if it is just rusty lube it up and have someone pull the cable while you lift the hood up and down if the latch is still not functioning properly
check to make sure the spring is still in the latch
if it is the latch may not be fixable replace it

How do I open hood on a 2005 montana when hood cabnle is broken

pull the broken cable down from under the dash, cut back the cable sheath to expose the wire cable inside, then use a good pair of vise grips to pull the stub of the broken steel cable to open the hood.

2000 Pontiac Montana hood won't open

Many times if you pull on the release and have someone give a sharp "bounce" on the leading edge of the hood it will get the latch to work. If you get it open, make sure you spray the mechanism with some wd40 to free it up.
