1999 Chevy S-10.. My head lights come on after I start the engine or, turn the key to on position. When it normally comes on only when I manually turn it on, like its suppose to any thoughts on what is causing this...
Headlamp relay problem , contacts stuck closed , You say your truck doesn't have DRL ?
Testimonial: "No the DTL do not apply to this year of S10s. Usually when I start the truck I have to manually turn the lights on or off so when the trucks running there is no way to turn the lights out as if I were sitting some were and with the truck running and I didn't want to shine the lights in someones house while sitting there but with this problem I do not have do this any more and I am not sure what started causing all this.. Mystery it is.."

The daytime running lights are usually the high beams, running at about 80% intensity. Your outer lights are the low beams. Check your fuse box and make sure you don't have blown fuses for the low beams. If the fuses are OK, check to be sure the bulbs are OK. If they are, I'd suspect either a dead or stuck headlight relay, or a bad lightswitch. Check the fuses and bulbs and post your results, and we can take it from there.

I found a paritally blown fuse. When the fuse blew metal pieces ended up partially making contact. After replacing the fuse everything worked great.

Try hitting your dome over ride switch 4 times with the truck running. You should hear a couple of dings and your headlights should shut off. Now hit the switch 4 more times and see if that resets the auto lamp system. If not the next thing I would check is the brake light switch, its under slightly under the dash attached to you brake pedal. Those can slip out of the proper position and cause problems with some of the electrical systems.
